I've got a pontoon boat here with the deck stripped clean. Electric motor on back and picnic table & grill & blender. All the neighbors use it.

Nice to see that it is a properly registered vessel!

I wanted a floating dock (because of the 3-foot tide), but that requires jumping through many hoops to beg Permission From The Authorities. A boat license, on the other hand, is only $7 a year and lets us legally toot around the bay under power. The neighbors think it's fun. I think it's silly and fun.

It's a barge. So I broke open a bottle of Dos Equis on its bow and called it the Large Marge Party Barge and Self-Propelled Seaplane Tender. That seemed silly enough, and in any case I like Dos Equis. http://staythirstymyfriends.com/?oa=y

3 Foot tide??
In Sydney we have 6-7 Foot and up north Qeensland they have 20 Foot Tides and more on occassions.
At high tide you can beach a dingy 10 Feet from shore and come back 6 hours later and have to drag the dingy 3-400 (yes Hundred) YARDS to water.

Great idea Don. Is Carol checked out on it?
Would be great fun in the Bay of Funday and it's 56' tides.

Jim, the tide is about six feet 100 miles east, where the river enters the Atlantic. Up here, the water is fresh. The tidal influence ends at Richmond, which is built on the fall line. The river rises something like 150 air miles farther west, in the Shenandoah valley.

It's not silly, Don, to outwitted the sneaky, conniving bureau-cats! Well done.

Well, it probably looks silly to cruise around sitting in several of those red plastic Adirondak chairs, sipping wine.
