Description: The Splash & Dash administrators, two of whom are male and the third, female, have invoked the 'be nice' clause of the site rules and deleted a photograph that, while not explicitly pornographic, nonetheless seems likely to offend some--perhaps many--members, including those children who are members of the site and their parents.

The administrators recognize that tastes differ widely. None of them enjoys censorship, and all hope that the 'be nice' clause will make it unnecessary.

    Dave, it's often hard to tell the difference between art and exploitation--but in this case we administrators all thought the photo objectified women. Well, of course, the Western hemisphere is full of images of woman-objects, and tastes vary widely. For me, though, I think of whether I'd like people leering at my daughter's butt or down her shirt, and that usually clarifies it a bit. (But I don't have a daughter, so maybe I'm full of hooey!)

    From someone who isn't known on this site or has the privilege of owning a Sea Rey I do appreciate you taking this kind of action. While I did not see the picture I can base it on what I have seen in the past and some of those have been embarrassing enough. In some circles they would be very acceptable and in others (like mine) they are inappropriate and embarassing. Thanks for taking the right road in removing this. Keeping the whole audiance in mind sometimes takes courage.

    There you are, All I have been saying to my self,is Where is <br />Dave Lima when you need him. <br />Dave it was me the put up a picture that was not that bad as <br />all these post suggest . As a matter of <br />fact I am sure only a hand full(if that)saw it. It was a picture <br />of <br />5 <br />very nicely shaped ladies in nicely short shorts, (Daisy Dukes). <br />Looking over a bridge into the water for Adams Sea Rey. I <br />believe and feel it was <br />fun nice humor that by all means was PG-13, that was meant <br />to <br />cheers Adam up for his bad landing. It was meant to only go <br />on<br />here and SSS, not STS but it did. Once Dan commented on <br />that. <br />the photo violates STS rules that we all know of. I voluntarily <br />took the decision of deleting it from that website . Dan, as the <br />gentleman he is wrote me a email thanking me for removing <br />the the photo and explaining to me why he thinks it might be <br />offensive to other ladies that are one the STS sight that are <br />building their own kit and are very highly qualified CFI's. And <br />that chief concern would be STS could be looked at as a BOYS <br />clue type of thing. after writing him back and fully agree with <br />him I took the initiative of , deleting the photo from the other <br />2 <br />sites,(this 1 and SSS). although I am more than sure that if 1 <br />of <br />the ladies on this site were to put or post a picture(that can <br />compare with my picture), of a handsome steroid monkey , <br />next <br />to a bridge, over a bridge,under the bridge or in the water , <br />warring not very manly looking beach shorts the ones the <br />european men wear,LoL. I know we will not stop coming on <br />the site <br />because of that. Well never the less with in minutes I got to <br />this <br />site and the photo was off and I had a very polite email from <br />Don. As to why thy/he removed the photo. <br />Once again I cited with <br />him as well. <br />Knowing my photo is and was PG13 (like the <br />banner says on top of this sites home page), my <br />understanding <br />this site is meant as a social site to share photos and our <br />adventures that are performed on the water with with our <br />family, freinds and our sea <br />planes. Not to have to worry who is uptight or who can't <br />appreciate the art good looking person weather that be either <br />my beautiful girlfriend next to, on,in, or around a plane, <br />bridge , or pole!<br /> I fully understand if the photos were pornographic,showed <br />nudity or just <br />plane down right dirty. <br />I don't know about you Dave and or the others but I like to <br />feel like they have to <br />have some class to them ,if not it is not art . <br />I am now the 1 that <br />feels up tight after reading these ridiculous post on here <br />about <br />a photo that no 1 really saw.     Let me also add, that I am a a firm believer that we get what <br />we look 4 if my daughter, my mother ,my <br />sister ,my girlfriend ,act and dressed as if they are in need of <br />attention and I looking for it I am a firm <br />believer that they will find it , therefore if someone looks at <br />them with inappropiate eyes that is what <br />they are looking for so they have now found it . So for those of <br />you that either have daughters wives <br />girlfriends or sisters that dress and act accordingly you have <br />nothing to worry about . But if they dress <br />in a real small tops daisy duke shorts or any other way to be <br />prerogative or teasing , guess what ,and it <br />is within our inner animal instinct look,desire and enjoy fine <br />art. , what we are being teased with . therefore if you don't <br />teach your daughters or have your wife or girlfriend to dress in <br />a specific way you will be just fine ,we <br />lead by example. and for the ladies on this site , I do feel do <br />you have the right to dress anyway you <br />wish ,an act anyway you wish ,but still be respected for being <br />ladies. and for those of you on the prior <br />post all I can say is ' He who is free of sin may you throw the <br />first rock' .

    Why do women let their selves be photographed and displayed if they don't like it.<br />If your a mother on this website and you let your kids watch TV or surf the net your kids are seeing more T and A than they ever would on this website. 'I don't want my kids seeing this stuff' doesn't wash with me. Women like to tees men and other women if they think they can. It starts at a very young age for both boys and girls. Girls know in junior high if another girl object to how they look it's because the other girl doesn't think she looks as good and has just lost some big points in her social status. This goes on everyday in our schools for boys, girls men and women. Men will be hypocritical and object because they're trying to look good to the women around them. It's all a game we humans play to try to make ourselves look better to others and ourselves. I saw Luis's picture of the girls lined up on the bridge so what if they had shorts on, they were showing less than you would see at any beach if a girl was laying on her belly sunning her backside. There are a lot of picture of hot girls on this site and I don't see them being deleted, why? because they're socially excepted people who are posting them but these pictures are just as exploitative of women or more so than Luis's was. There's one lady admin on here that should be more objective and less critical, the male admins know from experience not to vote against her or their wives will be all over them. When it comes to stuff like this I think the women should stay out of it if they don't want to look like they're just jealous. Guys can be less emotional about it and if it is truly dirty porn they can take care of it by deleting it after they save it to their computers.<br />I know this gal admin is going to be all over my ass so you may not see me for awhile guys.     I live in New Mexico, far from the vast water network of <br />many Sea Rey pilots. I hope to <br />purchase a Sea Rey SLSA when it is offered for sale. In the <br />meantime, I have to live my <br />dream vicariously through this website. I look to it for <br />encouragement to stay the <br />course and to visualize my place in the pilot's seat of a Sea <br />Rey. In other words, I <br />joined this site to look at planes and all things about planes, <br />not babes. I like pictures of <br />beautiful women as much as any normal man, but I feel <br />those type of pictures on this <br />site detract from what the main purpose I assume it to be, <br />namely AVIATION. There are<br />any number of alternative sites that dwell on the female <br />anatomy. For posting pictures <br />and viewing hot women, I invite those inclined to limit their <br />participation to those sites. <br />My interest is solely what are people doing to enjoy their <br />Sea Reys. Just my one vote <br />from very far outside of the Sea Rey community, but it is my <br />2 cents.

    I do agree that what you are saying. But that's what <br />we Sea Rey owners have the STS site , this site is a <br />social site to share our adventures love for anything <br />sea plane, that is PG-13 and some times it means <br />that a nice babe is next to our planes or a part of <br />our adventures. The site is named Splash And Dash <br />(a have fun site) not to deal with up tightness that <br />what we have work for. Like I have said in the past <br />god gave us free WILL. If we can't or don't want to <br />enjoy a good looking babe then you have the choice <br />to look at all the babeless pictures on the site. As a <br />matter of fact right now I am in the keys at this new <br />place that is out of hand good (Bayside Grilled in <br />Key Largo) talking to the owner so other sea planes <br />will be welcomed here. And yes I am with a ultra <br />hot babe having lunch with my sea plane. Now I <br />can't share this adventure without seeing a up tight <br />negative post about it. You guys that are to far away <br />should be appreciate my post and the hot babe. <br />Look guys loosen up and have fun. Life is to short!!!!!

    It appears that this website has two camps. One is for pilots that like Sea Reys and the <br />other is for a group of narcissistic hedonists. Hey, it is free choice. You do not have to <br />read this. Quit trying to justify your shallow depravities. Your hot babe may look like a fat <br />slob to others. Everyone here can agree that the Sea Rey is beautiful.     I love the *holier than thou* attitude! It's real simple, if you <br />see a picture of a girl on this <br />site, quickly place your left hand over your eyes. Now <br />carefully open your fingers to peak <br />at the girl. If you make a mistake and get *full* exposure, <br />don't worry you can still be <br />saved. Walk, no, run to church, immediately rinse your <br />eyes <br />with holy water, say 3 Hail <br />Mary's and take 2 asprins. Once you recover, then you can <br />get back on the site, but be <br />careful, because this will only work once. I just wonder what <br />you do if you are channel <br />surfing on TV and let's say you stumble on the Miss USA <br />pageant, and by some stroke <br />of unlucky fate, they are showing the swim suit competition <br />(Shock!) And what if you <br />aren't quick enough with the TV clicker to switch over to *the <br />price is right* or *golden <br />girls*....now you have a real problem.....especially if the wife <br />is with you!     I intended to let this thread die a merciful death and not post a response. But I feel <br />compelled to educate near illiterates that are unable to spell, punctuate, or use proper <br />grammar. Or is it the alcohol speaking? Mocking peoples' religious beliefs and acting <br />like farm animals in rut is nothing to be proud of. I am not religious, I am an agnostic; but <br />I do respect people that have a religious conviction. I have learned from these <br />exchanges that I will not do business with Troy Enriquez or Daniel Meyers. Good <br />going, boys, offend a potential customer. Daniel Meyers had <br />nothing to do with this so, 'step <br />off'. I only just learned to push the 'make cover photo' <br />button. so kill ME. i just thought <br />the girls on the bridge looked pretty. I made the Pix. big. it's <br />my fault.     Okay. Peace. I did not join the website with the intent of participating in the postings. I <br />just wanted to pick up information about the SeaRey. But then I just felt that some of the <br />good people that supported the administrators' decision were getting abused by some <br />insensitive humor. I have a propensity to defend the underdog when I feel they are <br />being ganged up on. Sorry about the barbs. I intended to elevate the dialogue in my <br />first post and ended up joining in on some of the vitriol. I am glad that no one holds a <br />grudge and thanks for your offer. Now that I know more of who you truly are, I respect <br />your willingness to take a step back and end the brash exchanges. I hope everyone <br />understands that I started with good intentions, even those that caught some of my <br />flack.

    Joe<br />Now that all this mess seems to have to have been put to bed and everyone has had there say, I think that once you get into the searey community you will find these are a bunch of good guys. Everyone has ther different opinions and ideas about things but the bottom line is we all have a common interest.All you have to do is attend one of the 'splash ins' at Garners or Tom Bowdens and you'll realize that.     Joe<br />The SeaRey flying is not confined to North America, there is great flying to be had in <br />Australia. If you are in Adelaide, come for a fly with me. Yesterday cruising in my SeaRey I <br />was watching a huge Southern Right Whale, shepherding her tiny calf along in the shallow <br />water just of the coast of South Australia.     Ross, thanks for the invitation. As is the case with most of us Yanks, I have always <br />had a fascination with Australia. A few years ago I sold my AirBorne XT-912 Tundra <br />w/SST wing. The AirBorne, in my opinion, is the best trike for the money in the market <br />and is run by a great family enterprise, the Duncans, out of Redhead, NSW. Now I am <br />looking for something with more weather protection and side-by-side seating. My wife <br />and I decided that we want an aircraft with the same great forward view of a trike but <br />with more comfort. The ability to land on Lake Powell in Arizona would be a great plus. <br />The SeaRey answers all of our objectives. Stay well.
