Description: Want a restaurant of the backwoods kind? Try the Dam Restaurant at Moss Bluff (northwest of Lake Weir).

Parking is at Smith Park next to the Moss Bluff lock on the Ocklawaha River. There are three decent parking spaces (beaches) for SeaReys. Two are north of the ramp and close to the locks. One SeaRey per space. Note the day use park ticket in the window ($5). There is also a sign that prohibits vessels with noise greater than 90 dB at 50’ ($250 fine). The park regulation sign clearly specifies, howsomever, that seaplanes are not “vessels” for regulatory purposes. Whew. That’s one less thing.

Getting in is easy. The entrance to Smith Park is on the Ocklawaha River/Canal. The River Canal is wide with gentle curves courtesy of the aborted Cross Florida Barge Canal. Just avoid the power lines to the south.      Attachments:

Open for breakfast or lunch (until 2) every day. It’s a five minute walk from the river park. It's a long drive on CR464.      Attachments:

Dan, what about the most important part? The food!

    Food? Yeah, they have food.

Okay, well, see, the thing is, I'm no good with food, but, if you insist on drafting me as a food critic, I'd have to say it is not Chalet Suzanne, but it's no hot dog stand either. More like down home country cookin. You ever been to Mary's Country Kitchen? It's that kinda deal.

The waterway is wide, but there is a no wake zone close to the dam. It was a short taxi to a long straight section for departure.      Attachments:

This has nothing to do with the Dam Diner. It’s just a big grassy thing out in the swamp turned muck farm turned wetlands between Lake Griffin and Lake Yale.      Attachments:
