Seaplane pilots shouldn’t mind a little rain. These guys didn’t. Their passengers weren’t so sure.

If you can’t fly, you might as well look at old cypress saw mills at the Wedell-Williams Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Museum.

Here's a sampling of the stuff you can see from the museum's brochure: 'You see actual cypress boats, huge cypress planks, raw timber, a log slide, spikes, pull cones, a steam engine used to transport timber out of the swamp and many of the industry's tools. You even learn how moss was gathered, processed, and used at the time.' I'm not making this up. I kept the brochure just to be sure.

Unfortunately it was mostly about cutting down trees. Some yahoo killed a 5000 year old tree and thought it was cool. Maybe in some universe where killing old things is a good deed.
In addition to antique saws, there were some fast old planes. And a Tarzan exposition highlighting the swamps of Patterson. Now that's cool even in this universe.

Morgan City has walls just like a medieval fortress. They separate the city from the Atchafalaya River. Only instead of keeping out marauding barbarians, they are intended to keep the invading waters of the Mississippi at bay. So far so good. They have beat back a forty year flood. Check back in another 100 years.
