There’s some parts of Texas unavailable to SeaReys. It calls for some high altitude flying.

Some water is unattractive for SeaReys due to a too high wood content.

A good deviation around big thunderstorms is when you can’t even see them on the horizon.

Some places are too crowded by other aquatic flyers for SeaReys to squeeze in.

When you’ve been denied water long enough, even a cow pond gets some consideration.

Hmmm….if the storms chase us back, a quick splash in the pond and a barn becomes a hangar.

Any kind of wave would work for a SeaRey in distress, including waves of grain.

It looks like the red glare of the storm is going to win this race if you can believe the government supplied information. Your tax dollars at work for the free ADS-B weather. Free. Right. Not so much. But welcome when it’s offered.

That ADS-B looks good on the iPad, Dan. Looks like you had gotten a bit of sun, too.

Well spotted, Russ, identifying one of WT's little quirks. The oil pressure has never changed in the engine's 250 hours of work replacing the two others that retired after long and productive lives showing exactly the same number. The Rotax service guys said I could get a higher number if I changed the gauge. I said that would be too scary after 15 years of seeing it just where it is.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Dan, you know your plane better than anyone and I realized again that I forgot the rules on this site after I made my observation so I will take it over to the tech site.

What’s this? A hole in the wall of the river bank? Looks like a perfect spot for hiding a couple of renegade SeaReys.

Out of sight but not out of mind. Well, maybe a little bit out of our minds to squeeze in, but great to be on the inside.

It’s a tight fit between the tree trunk and the sunken snag. I brushed the snag with the port float on the way out. No harm in it.

There was no room in hangar, so all we could do was chain them down and fervently hope the storm went away. It didn’t but the chains held. And a good Samaritan brought out the keys to the courtesy car for the trip to the hotel.

Stephenville, Texas is renowned for the Hard Eight Pit BBQ. The owner got money to open the store in Vegas on a hard eight. Mass quantities of food are available by the pound. The county wouldn't give them a liquour license, so beer is free. Transport from the airport is available by golf cart upon request.
