Description:
I think this is a Lockheed Lodestar. It was recently moved from KRIC to KFCI, where it was hidden away in back of the T-hangars. KFCI's FBO (who has a charter business flying spiffy Citations and King Airs) is reported to have said in disgust, 'I can still see it!'
That may suggest one reason why 29% of the KFCI T-hangars are vacant, when all other airports in the area have long waiting lists.

I used to skydive out of a LodeStar in Palatka FL back in the 70's. <br />Unfortunately It did not come back <br />from a weed run in South America. I remember blowing a jug during <br />rotation one time and the pilot was <br />able to get it stopped on the apron. Fastest exit I was ever involved in.

Some airplanes were simply built for utility and not for winning beauty awards. The Convair 600's I used to work on years ago fit that catagory. Nothing attractive about them at all, but they did their job.

Not sure I get your point, Don. Are you saying that one reason 29% of the KFCI hangars are vacant is because the FBO is picky about who rents them?

The county owns the hangars. The FBO owns the county--at least, it seems that way sometimes. He doesn't appear to like airplanes much, except his own. Otherwise, it's a very nice airport.

'I can still see it!'???!!!!!! <br /><br />Heretic. Any airplane with a round engine is beautiful. On the other hand, any airplane is beautiful. Except an Avanti.
