Are there areas of this river that are long and wide enough to splash?

I also flew over the St. John's yesterday between Sanford and Lake Orange. While mostly serpentine in this area, the river does offer some SeaRey suitable straightaways. However, two impediments exist. I saw lots of boats including many pontoon rigs and one-man shells. Perhaps this was New Year's Day phenomenon, but they made several reaches iffy for a seaplane. Several stretches had signs that I could not read at 500 AGL, both I think were speed limits. The runabouts were making small wakes in those areas and certainly going slower than a SeaRey's landing speed.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Oh oh, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Who would have thought that one of those larger lakes along the St. Johns would be completely speed restricted. Fortunately no boats were on it and hopefully no Fish & Wildlife officers were around. And no manatees were harmed.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML.
