Description: Finally we finished the first episode of Touch and Go. Evaluation copy anyway. If you have a spare 26 minutes and have an interest in seaplanes, I feel sure you’ll find it interesting, at the end of this first episode there is a tribute to Ross Vining who tragically lost his life on this trip.
When we originally filmed this trip we weren’t planning on making a documentary however after completing the trip we managed edit enough footage together to make something interesting. Hope you enjoy it.
We have just finished filming our second seaplane adventure to the Whitsundays in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. This time we feel confident that we have a lot better footage and interviews, so no excuses this time. Our goal is to find a network or a distributor for future episodes, if you know of anyone that may be interested please let me know.
This is an evaluation copy and I would love any constructive criticism. I have not made this public on You Tube so you will need the link below to access.
You Tube doesn’t do it justice, it look a lot better in high definition and on a big screen. Let me know if you’d like DVD, and I’ll see what I can arrange.

Thanks, David. It's a fine celebration of Ross and the trip that he was so enthusiastic about.

What is the target audience, David? If the general public, I would spend more time on introducing the participants: age, occupation, flying background. Above all tell people why each of you loves to fly. When a viewer knows the participant, the filmed experiences become shared.<P> Spend some time on the uniqueness of seaplanes, perhaps with demonstrations of operations on water such as step taxi. Mention some of the rules for both water (Coast Guard in the U.S.) and air (FAA) ops. These suggestions reflect the questions I receive when riding non-pilots and even pilots without seaplane experience.<P>The tribute to Ross is lovely and very touching. The pain of losing your mate is evident. Yet that salute probably went on too long for the average viewer.<P>The land- and sea-scape shots are wonderful. Those of us here, especially in the eastern sections, can only envy such beautiful sights without people or structures for mile after mile. I have found similar only over the western Great Basin or in Canada well above its border with the U.S. No one, flier or not, ever gets tired of aerial views of that sort.<P>Meanwhile, please continue. I want to see more. Good luck on finding a distribution outlet!<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Thanks everyone for comments. Bruce thank you for your suggestions, our target audience was originally everyone involved in the trip. We did not originally film this trip to make a documentary just a home video. After we started the editing we decided to have a crack at making a pilot documentary to see if we could find someone to invest in future episodes. I totally agree with all your suggestions and our next episode will cover all of your suggestions.<br /><br />We just finished filming the next episode on the Whitsundays islands in the Great Barrier Reef and the 40th celebrations of air Whitsunday. This time we have better cameras and mounting positions and some interesting interviews along the way. We are very excited about the next addition.

Terrific film David. Once again, your film shows that the Searey community pursues what has always tugged at my heart. Exploring the world and it's beauty with friends. As you say, Ross accepted the risks and enjoyed this life to the fullest to the end. I hope I am so lucky. I've had one great adventure and many small adventures in my 'Rey. Ready to join up with others for another great adventure in life.

Great video David. My wife, Barbara, and I watched it last night on our flat screen TV. Visiting Australia is on our bucket list. We would have liked more video of the scenery and less about the planes. It all depends on your target audience. We also had trouble hearing your voice over the music sometimes. Please take this as just trying to help. We loved it.

Thanks guys I am loving the feedback. We've certainly learnt a lot putting the first episode together. I'm sure our next episode will be a big improvement we have got some spectacular footage from our last trip.<br />Let us know when you're coming to Australia more than happy to show you our backyard.

David, enjoyed the video greatly as well as the spirit of adventure of your group. Even tho we've visited Austrailia twice I appreciated the map tracing your path, a really nice touch for situational awareness of the viewer.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML.     Great video. What heart wrenching news it is to learn the tragic fate of a friend like that. I've <br />been there, and it is one of the worst moments you will experience. Great tribute to Ross.
