Moment of anticipation. What's the airspeed at that moment, Larry?

    Hi Don:

About 48mph. It stalls at 46-47 with full flaps

Best,
Larry

I was wondering because it appears to be alighting tailwheel first. Is that your normal landing attitude?

Larry Woods - May 22,2013 Viewers | Reply
    Hi Don:

Yes, it does look that way in this photo. So far, I have not noticed any landings where the
tail wheel contacts the water first. Normally, it lands right on the deepest part of the step.

Best,
larry

Very sad news from Larry's wife Elizabeth this morning:

""It is with profound sadness that I must inform all the many friends on Larry’s contact list that Larry passed away last night, January 16, 2016.

He was healing well and recovering his strength following bypass surgery on November 6, and a subsequent infection.

He suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage while napping in the late afternoon, and never regained consciousness. He was removed from life support at 10:45 p.m. by his daughter, Dr. Julie Timko, and was bid farewell by his family.

More than any other characteristic, Larry loved to help people. Please honour his memory today by helping someone in need.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth and family=""

Larry's love of his seaplane and the water was infectious. I will greatly miss his generosity and enthusiasm for life.

Larry obviously got a lot of joy out of his plane. Sounds like he shared other joys with his family and friends. I'm sorry for his loss
and wish peace and happy memories for his family.

Larry was a true gentleman and was always willing to help folks out with their airplane problems.
He was very involved with the Flying Egg...Venture.....and after seeing the A-24, became the
North American dealer. He will be missed by many.
If you wish to send a note to his widow, Elizabeth, she is using his e-mail.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Larry this past summer at John Dunlop's ""Gaggle"", I was even fortunate to take a flight with
Larry in his A-24. We were both struck by what a gentleman he was and we conversed on many topics due to his wide range of
knowledge and experience. When someone of his caliber ""Goes West"" from our flying community it is a loss felt by anyone who knew
him. Our condolences to his family.
