Description: Helen Woods and her first Sport Pilot graduate, Chris, splashed in today to relieve Carol and me of the dreaded longweekend tedium. (Chris got his SP certificate--what?--five years ago? This was his first seaplane ride, and he seemed to be enjoying it.)

It was an altogether lovely splash, with delightful company and, of course, purdy seaplanes.

And a neighbor brought over a big cheesecake.

When it was time for them to go, Helen had a brief 'SeaRey Dance' lesson. We dug her tires out and she was soon ready to go. This isn't an especially flattering image of Helen, but we were too busy having fun to take a lot of pictures. (Photo: Carol)      Attachments:

I flew along downstream to where the Chickahominy flows into the James, and we looked at the county park that has given permission for amphibs to taxi up their ramp and tie down at the campground. (Photo: Carol)      Attachments:

I flew home from there and landed in light rain--about ten minutes before a nice thunderstorm arrived. <br /><br />The NWS robot reader likes to say, 'Lie train' when there's light rain. Tickles me. Here's today's lie train.      Attachments:

Helen and Chris, heading northeast to Bay Bridge Airport, were ahead of the storm line and arrived in the dry.<br /><br />The thunderstorm stayed around all evening. Here's an IP cam shot by IR light, with raindrops and bugs.      Attachments:

Looks like great fun Don. Like like you've got some reno happening on the shoreline. You putting down <br />some stones for a SeaRey patio?

Dennis, um, I think the operative term is "restore," at least as far as certain county, state, and federal agencies are concerned. The only addition is a geotextile intended to go under rip-rap. If the original owner had used it, I probably wouldn't be "restoring" the river bank now. The stones you see are 60 lb anchor blocks that were stacked loosely and called a sea wall. I'm told that they stood less than 30 days before a hurricane knocked them down. I'm hoping for at least 60 days this time.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML.
