Description: A brief trip report for Jekkyl
Island, Ga. Despite the threat
of tropical storm Karen this
weekend Jane and I flew up
the coast to Jekyll island this
week for Jane's birthday. This
is a great trip by Searey if you
have one! Not bad by RV
either. We stayed at the
Hampton Inn, the nicest
Hampton you ever saw. They
picked us up at the airport and
also drove to dinner. We used
their bikes to explore the island
that was previously owned by
JP Morgan, Goodyear, et al.
Latitude 31 on the water was
great for dinner and we also
ate at Red Bug pizza that is
owned by the airport FBO guy
named Rich. He can also
provide electric cars for
transportation. We had a great
weekend, the TS was no factor,
and I think a Searey gaggle
would be a perfect fit for this
place.

That is great Jon. Your picture and comments inspired the wonderful question from my Michelle: 'hey,
why don't we take a weekend trip over to Jekyll ?' We will make the trip via Searey versus the beautiful
RV speed machine. Thank you for the inspiration.

Very neat place! Great beaches, plenty of motels, a campground, restaurants, interesting turtle museum (more than turtles), a small shopping center.

No fuel at the airport, but there's car gas on the island, although not close to the airport. If you have a gas can, rent a Red Bug at the airport or hitch a ride. Or fly about five miles north to KSSI (St. Simons Island) for self-service 100LL. The FBO there has several courtesy cars.

At KSSI the courtesy car is free with a fill up or $10 without. Either way a great deal to get into town for
the crabcakes. We got a sebring convertible.
