Description:
This Bold Eagle had parked himself on this old fence post for sometime today. I have tried to get close enough with my 300mm lens before to get a good shot but these guys have really good eyesight. It took me about 20 minuets to sneak up behind a couple oak trees to get close enough to get a few shots off before he spotted me.

That 'young eagle' is at least 5 years old. They don't get the white head and tail until then.
Nice picture though.
Don, I have had eagles in my yard since we cleared this property off and built this house in1998. I can't tell how old they are unless they are really young and still have the brown feathers on their heads. This one has been around a couple of months he acts and looks young to me but you're right he could be old.

Looks friendly enough Russ, except if I were a shrimp.
