I am the guy that took this picture and the whole story has not been
told. Maybe David was trying to stop it from sounding unbelievable.
What really happened - After an epic morning of canyon flying followed
by Whale Shark watching at Ningaloo Reef we flew on and
commenced setting up camp on this deserted island not far
from Exmouth as a part of our Around Australia Seaplane Adventure.
In most matters pertaining to our trip our planning was pretty good, but
on the overnight trip to this island we neglected to bring enough beer
(didn't know it would be so hot) and food (due to weight limitations,
being of secondary importance to beer and being a tad optimistic about
our fishing skills).
These young ladies turned up in a boat mid-afternoon. They not only
brightened our day, they gave us half a slab of ice cold beers, a
barbeque chicken and a Mangrove Jack fish they had
just caught. They hung out for a while, enjoyed a Splash and Dash joy
flight around the island and then sailed off to get back to Exmouth
before dark.
Unfortunately the vision of these lovelies and mood was shattered
minutes after they left by our resident Super Petrel pilot deciding a
swim 'au natural' was a good idea.
Later that evening as the camp fire was being sparked up, fishing lines
were cast and just yards from where he had been swimming the Super
Petrel pilot hooked a shark. It broke his line and swam away.
