Description: Ambitious water diversion project between Ft Myers and LaBelle
Florida. Instead of dumping hundreds of millions of gallons of
polluted water from Lake Okeechobee directly into the Gulf estuaries
(killing marine life and causing toxic blue green algae), the water will
be diverted to cover this vast landscape. It will then percolate into
the ground and flow south getting cleansed.

The man made canal will divert some of the water, not all. "we" bought up a lot of land for this
project.

Wayne, Does the new canal come off the ICW?

    yes

So that means that some of the millions of gallons of polluted water will flow into the new canal and the rest will flow down the ICW
as it does now?

What the heck are we looking at in the top photo, Wayne? Is it going to be a road over a dam of some sort, with a lake on this side--or what?

I can't answer Don, but if it's the Corpse of Engineers, maybe they don't know yet either.

I believe the large gates will be pumping stations that will push the water over the large flat tract of land??
