You want exotic winter color? Got that around Lake Charles (when you can get into the Ocala
National Forrest restricted areas - that's most days).

Nice colors, Dan. For Florida. Here's Virginia's answer to your spanish moss in winter--mistletoe--in our next door neighbor's tree.      Attachments:

Not to mention the additional traditional benefits from mistletoe this time of year, Don!

    "Yeah,
Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
You've got me blowin, blown my mind
Is it tomorrow or just the end of time?"

Did Jimmi see this place?

Can you do more than get a high view of the spectacle? Yes! If you have a SeaRey that only takes
a thin veneer of water to play on.

How about a mysterious mud filled lake with rare chemical concretions populating its shallow
sediments? Yep. Mud Lake. No, seriously. That's its name. (Well, Col. Grumpy called it "Canard
de boue" after one of his weirdly constructed model planes, the "Mud Duck", but that's not
geographically correct.)

Want to see abandoned waterways adjoining primordial rivers? Yep. That’s pure Florida.
It took a scandalous national president, Tricky Dick Nixon, to halt the cross trenching of the state
known as the “Cross Florida Barge Canal”.

Be careful of the unnatural, though, as the canal builders put a reservoir on it but didn't get all the
trees out.

Ow! Ow! That's a painful sight! There's a big shallow pond near the local Lowe's Aircraft Supply here that looks pointy like that. I absolutely hate driving past it. It's worse because it would be just big enough to land on--so from the air it's an attractive nuisance, but up close it's just plain painful.

It's particularly painful on the Rodman Reservoir, Don, because normally this would be covered by black water. The good news is because it's a reservoir the level is pretty stable and the stumps are covered. Every four or five years, however, they drain the swamp to get ride of pesky plants. At least when it's drained the snags are easily seen.

The tree removers were not always diligent, leaving poles to tickle low flying bellies.      Attachments:

Beyond the manufactured canal are the deep dark heavens of the St. Johns River….and so much
more….can you really get more in one day? Yes! But you can't upload it all in one night...at least I
can't.
