Here's his take off. (He said it wasn't a typical takeoff, that he had left a little too much slack in the shroudlines, which caused the front wheels to lift when the lines became taut.)      Attachments:

It was easy to catch up with him as he was cruising over the Virginia countryside at 30 mph. Photographing him, on the other hand, turned out to be fairly hard because I didn't feel comfortable flying at my Searey Classic's slowflight speed of maybe 45 mph, while trying to keep him in focus with the camera. Maybe I'll try it again some day with a dedicated photographer in the right seat.

That's Richmond, VA, in the background, by the way.

Another thing was that I didn't want to get too close, especially above him, because my wake would be bad for his chute, and the slower my speed, the worse the effect would be. You know about wakes if you've ever done a formation takeoff with another Searey

That's a Buckeye Dragonfly. Its a quality construction, but they are no longer manufactured.
I just sold 2 of them with a new car hauler trailer so I could put the money toward our new Searey.
They are a complete blast to fly. That type of take off will bite him one day. They are too light to
take sudden shock of
trying to pull the wing up like that. It works for the larger powered parachutes but not for the part
103 models. On day he'll bury
that prop in the ground when it turtles.

I've attached a low quality video of my wife and I flying these. She's 100 pounds so you see a huge
difference with the take off with
me a 210. Enjoy
