David looks like he was born to be a competent Searey pilot. (And the photo suggests several technical and geographical questions--including How the heck do you say Lake Rotoiti?)

Not sure about being born to be a Competent Searey Pilot but I damn well want to fly that machine more than any thing else now.. How do you say the lake name you ask? ROW - TOW- E - T

If you figure out the pronunciation Don, please share. I’ve been badly mangling many local names and generally creating confusion among Kiwi air traffic controllers. It’s a pleasant challenge jumping from Lake Rotorua to Lake Rotoiti to Lake Rotoehu to Lake Rotoma....

David and Solo Wings helped me to get my U.S. license validated in NZ this past week, Dave. I helped David learn badly angled beaching, spreading my skewed habits internationally.

Dan i'm sure your habits were not that bad. Thank you for sharing your passion with me. You have converted me to wanting to be landing on water a whole lot more than land.

Congrats to David!.
As for the angle, with all those stones on the beach, is there any better choice (assuming you want to keep your hull)?

Dave, the beach angle just let Dan demonstrate one of the "invisible" features of a Searey: On a hard-packed beach, put the wheels down and roll on and off; on a soft, muddy beach, leave them up and slide and twist.
