Gorgeous day in New York to splash- weather hasn't timed well with my work schedule to join up with the rest of the boys. Unfortunately still can't get my Rey to be dependable enough to stray too far.

Hi Kevin, hope all is well? Did you resolve your oil tank issue?

    Hi John
Yes- was able to get the crack welded- now working on intermittent rpm loss which is much more irritating

Great looking Seareys, lakes, mountains! What could be better?

    Don,
What could be better? Me living on a lake that would allow seaplanes. On the
water and not being able to land my rey
was a downer. Seeing
Brian fly was great to see though :-)

That IS a bummer, Paulo! There are only two reasonable things to do about it:

1. Get the lake opened to seaplanes.
B. Move.

(Well, maybe not #1.)

But seriously--I checked the SPA's Water Landing Directory. It doesn't list many open lakes near you in New York state--only two south of N42º. Of course, it doesn't list most lakes, so maybe there's hope.

Not many at all here. Candlewood lake in Connecticut was the main lake I
had use of and the small rivers next to it. Otherwise there was the Hudson
river or Long Island sound. Others were a bit further. Then again I was just
down to see a friend on Lake Gaston in North Carolina, beautiful lake with
very little seaplane activity. On a good note though, I did finally get to Kitty
Hawk. I thought of giving you a call for a visit, but we were pressed for time. I'll
just have to somehow make it to one of your gatherings.

Paulo, Gaston is a great seaplane lake. There's a splash-in on it every fall. The next lake to the west is a little less welcoming--but it has an annual splash-in, too. Ours is on September 30 this year. Come on down!
