Those pesky evergreens and palm trees in the uplands mask most of the colorful trees. In the swamps, however, crimson and gold adorns the deciduous trees as the days grow shorter and night temperatures plummet into the low teens (C).      Attachments:

According the USDA site, the colors in Florida are just beginning to turn. The Ag guys should get out more often. The Farmer’s Almanac says the most probable peak time for fall foliage in Florida was November 2 to 11. Maybe it’s warmer down by the lakes, delaying the transition?      Attachments:

It is true that the colors are more subtle and the transition is such that if you aren’t paying attention you might just miss it. Cypress trees are deciduous too, but after a quick red time, they just look gray when they go dormant.      Attachments:

I found some color a little further north at Lake Orange. Still, these sights pale compared to fall
seasons during my student years in Massachusetts. I miss that and flying around western
mountains during my working years in California. But those are small losses compared to all of the
positive aspects of Florida, which make it a great place to live and to fly a SeaRey. Forecast high
today 80F.

So Florida really does have seasons--besides tourist, not-tourist, and spring training, that is. Whaddaya know!

(But the truth is, I really envy you guys who live there, at least when it gets cold and dreary up here in the Mid-Atlantic region. I do like a couple of days of winter, though, just to remind myself of what I hated about growing up in the north.)
