Description: .

It isn't winter yet, but there certainly was a slant of light this Veterans Day afternoon.

There's a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons –
That oppresses, like the Heft
Of Cathedral Tunes –

(photo 2)
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us –
We can find no scar,
But internal difference –
Where the Meanings, are –

(photo 3)
None may teach it – Any –
'Tis the seal Despair –
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the Air –

(photo 4)
When it comes, the Landscape listens –
Shadows – hold their breath –
When it goes, 'tis like the Distance
On the look of Death –

I've been trying to figure out how to post a sequence of photos. Don White (politely) let me know that the best thing is to include a sequence in one thread--added below the first photo in the sequence. Well, I probably should have figured that out myself, because I soon noticed that any modification of, or reply to, any post moves it to the top in chronological order, and that obviously means that posting sequential photos individually isn't going to persist beyond the first reply.

(MyFamily used a different logic for this stuff.)

So I've just combined four photos into one thread, as you see on this page, and deleted the other three individual photo threads.

However, the text I tried to place with each photo (the stanzas of the poem) disappeared when I saved them. I think that's probably a bug.

It's possible to add several photos to a reply and save the whole batch at once. But that places them in the reverse order--the first photo you add appears at the bottom of the sequence and the last added is at the top. That seems counterintuitive, at least in my head.

In any case, Don has included a nifty feature that MyFam lacked: When you upload a photo you get the option of placing it "inline." That's what I did with these photos. As you see, the bottom three photos appear the same size as the first one in the thread. The size is intermediate--between the full size of the photo and the thumbnails that MyFam used. When you click on an intermediate-size photo, it opens in a new tab (or window) as the full size image. A very neat trick, indeed!

Don, It's always nice to see the changing of the leaves to announce the changing of the season. Here in Florida we have a
similar phenomena, the color of the License Plates change this time of the year.
