I have been occasionally lurking in the background here having only occasional access to the internet, but I am extremely happy to report that I have now completed my Searey and received an airworthiness certificate on 4/20/05. It was built in my hanger at Arthur Dunn Airpark in Titusville, Fl over the past 1.5 years with a 10 month interuption during the middle of that time. Ended up with about 1000 hrs of construction time. First flight not made yet. I still need to get some training time in a Searey. Anyway, I am happy to join the ranks and look forward to some exciting times ahead.

Congrats Larry, just know you are going to have one more great summer. I THOUGHT I would have my plane ready mid may BUT may have to put on hold for a while. Medical problems and everyday doings are getting in the way of SeaRey building. Had a MRI last week and have a closing of the spinal canal in lower back causing numbness in legs, very painfull. OH THE JOYS OF GROWING OLD.

Hey Charlie, Is your strip ready for three SeaReys the first week in May?

Charlie Huskey - Apr 22,2005 Viewers | Reply
BIG maybe on strip readiness JOHN. Did some filling of low places last fall and don`t have grass on them yet. Will be sowing grass today. I can ride tractor with back troubles BUT just can`t stand very long. If strip is not ready I can meet you at Jamestown airport which is 10 mile from me, with 3500 ft paved runway, hanger space for planes overnight. How many people will be in flight? If grass is up by then, as I always tell everyone, make a couple pass over runway, if you don`t like it I`ll meet you at airport.

Charlie, we'll have Doug Rogerson in Darrell Lynd's aircraft, me in mine and Cory Rogerson in the Orca (I don't think his new bride will choose to make the journey north.)
What is your strip Lat/Long?
We'll call you from Florida if and when we get our act together.

Charlie Huskey - Apr 22,2005 Viewers | Reply
John, My Lat/long is N36degrees15mn, W84degrees48mn. I now have 1000 ft grass strip, BUT be aware that once you commit to land and get in low there is no go around. Trees at end or runway. I do have long low approach though. 2 runways, one lying south to north, the other northwest to south east. Windsock west of strip. If in doubt about landing just go to Jamestown airport where I will meet you, no problem. Do you guys want to spend the night?

Charlie, with your bad back and all, there is no way that three smelly Canadians are going to mess up your home. We'll just come in and shoot up the place.
If we get in, can we get out above the trees? How long is the shorter of the two runways?
Is there any accomodation near Jamestown Airport?
If we embark on your route, the next day we would hope to stop at Dayton and take in the Airforce Museum at Wright Patterson..

John, You guys are welcome to stay here at my place. I have a 2 bedroom mobile home for you to stay in and have your own privacy, also an extra bedroom in my home. If you feel you must stay in a motel there is one near Jamestown airport, BUT you are welcome here and I PROMISE to not feed you to the gators. Just an Ole REDNECK country boy that loves to make new friends. Both runways are 1000 ft, one with low approach over 10acre lake and the other over 50 acre hayfield and fence. Decision to land here is entirely up to you. Would be just as proud to pick you up at Jamestown. Do you guys carry tiedowns.

John Robert Dunlop - Apr 23,2005 Viewers | Reply
    OK, Thank you Charlie.
We'll see how things look from Florida.
I believe that all three aircraft will have tie downs.

John, I am happy to offer you Gas, Food, Lodging at the Claytor Lake Seaplane Base (unofficial) at 37.073N 80.609W. Ample parking in front yard with a good ramp into the water. Front yard is on a slope however so I would recommend it only with good hydraulic brakes. Alternately, I would be happy to provide transportation from KPSK, 5 miles away. Hope you can make it. Would be great to visit.

    Thank you Ken!
I plotted your site on my GPS and it looks like the closest we'll come to you is KDAN on a route that would take us up the coast to Savanah then north along the east side of the Appalachians. The other routes that take us to First Flight or Dayton (Airforce Museum) are much further away. The four routes I've planned will be chosen according to winds and weather when we leave Orlando.. We'll keep your kind offer open though. You never know where a gaggle of Canadian SeaReys could end up!

Sorry Charlie to hear of your pain and delay. I just had another attack of disc induced pain but the doc fixed me right up; those pain pills are great except I wouldn't fly with them.

Charlie, very sorry to hear about your spine. Hope you can find some releaf.

Do announce on this site when your strip is ready. I would like to come visit sometime this summer.

Larry, congrats on completion, keep us informed of your first flight! (8 months and 1000 hours is impressive, at least to me!)

Larry, do you still want me to send you an NSL?

Larry J. Reynolds - Apr 23,2005 Viewers | Reply
Yes, John, I still want to retrofit.

John Robert Dunlop - Apr 25,2005 Viewers | Reply
Larry, your NSL was sent off today. One of the emails that I sent you was bounced. Could you please let me know by email if you did not get my second email with attached invoice and installation instructions?
