Thanks, Russ! Just to get the traffic pattern logic in my mind so I don't have to remember details--the lake is on the west side of Fantasy of Flight and we're to avoid flying over FoF. Have I got that right?

Russ Garner - Mar 20,2008   Viewers  | Reply
Don, that's what I get out of the notice. I guess the homes on the west shore are fair game, that's where Mr. Weeks home is...

Can (pardon the expression) 'land' planes fly into FOF? (I don't regard my SR-or me--to be X-Country readyyet.)<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

I don't think so Frank. Fantasy of Flight is closed to the public except for the occasional event. As far as I know this ain't one of them.

Yesterday I talked to Bill Gillespei who is one of the guy's running the event. He said you can land (on the water only) at Fantasy anytime between the 8th and the 13th and camp if you wish. The main event is on thursday the 10th with all the fun &amp; games. I'm<br />sure there will be port -a -pottys but don't know about shower facilities? There is a very<br />good and reasonable restaurant on the property

Burt: is there a way to taxi out of the water once we land. I'm not crazy about leaving my plane in the water over night.

Dan Nickens - Mar 21,2008   Viewers  | Reply
They have a lovely concrete ramp, Dennis, suitable for taxiing out in their Sunderland. You could get lost on it in a SeaRey.

Dennis Scearce - Mar 21,2008   Viewers  | Reply
So I would land on Lake Agnes to get to their ramp or on FoF's lake?

Don Maxwell - Mar 22,2008   Viewers  | Reply
Not 'would,' Dennis. Will.<br /><br />According to Google Earth's ruler, we can expect a good 6,000 feet north-south and at least 3,000 feet east-west on Lake Agnes. Russ's lake--which seems huge when you go to land on it--is about 6,300 feet in diameter.

Google Earth's ruler may soon be Darth Vader (Bill Gates).

I'm sure they have their reasons, however I would have thought that the traffic pattern would have been opposite of what is posted, to keep the traffic away from the all the homes on the west side of the lake. Maybe they don't want the aircraft flying over the crowd on the east side ?

Here's the link to the short flight from 1FLO to FOF.<br />In the video I'm come up from the South over the<br />I-4. This is going to be the direction in the normal<br />winds the usually from the Northeast. You can<br />see they're is not a lot of room on the South end<br />of the Lake Agnes and if the winds out of the East.<br />Here's the link to the short flight from 1FLO to FOF.<br />In the video I'm come up from the South over the<br />Burt lives on the North end of Lake Agnes and on <br />that end, in the Northwest corner is a cove, this cove <br />provides the best approach into the lake but it is small. <br />Landing From the North should be much better. I have<br />a short video of Burt landing from the North over his <br />house onto Lake Agnes.<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4agCDfuZwo">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4agCDfuZwo</a>

Dennis: There is a nice ramp to taxi out of lake agnes onto Fantasy airport, but I don't<br />know If we will be allowed to use it? Fantasy is right on lake Agnes, the other lake is<br />called little lake Agnes and does not have access to fantasy but is suitable for SeaReys<br />When I called Bill Gillespie he was very accommidating, if there are any other questions<br />he can be reached at 863-808-9135. The other guy that is running things is Steve Archer <br />at 727-420-0643

I just talked to Steve Archer about camping at FoF. He said I could camp there begining on Sunday night - talked about paying for the week, though. Said showers were a half mile hike. Recommended I buy a sail boat shower bag and use Lake Agnes water. <br />Steve said Lake Agnes was way down and we might not be able to use the ramp to get out. He said he thought a Searey could make it out using the bank if we didn't lolligag.
