Eagles Nest Fly In

Kerry Richter tells me there will be a fly in at Eagles Nest Aerodrome on Saturday, April 19. A resident SeaRey owner, Ray, is inviting all SeaReys (and any other airplane) to join in the festivities. Kerry will be arriving Saturday morning. And that is all I know about it. The rest is from the Internet: Eagles Nest Aerodrome Airport, FD44,

Location & QuickFacts
FAA Information Effective: 2007-12-20
Airport Identifier: FD44
Airport Status: Operational
Longitude/Latitude: 081-35-11.2740W/29-25-42.9020N
-81.586465/29.428584 (Estimated)
Elevation: 60 ft / 18.29 m (Estimated)
Land: 20 acres
From nearest city: 6 nautical miles W of Crescent City, FL
Location: Putnam County, FL
Magnetic Variation: 03W (1985)
Top
Owner & Manager
Ownership: Privately owned
Owner: David Garber
Address: 2212 Talley Ct Rd
Leesburg, FL 34748
Phone number: 904-326-3456
Manager: David Garber
Address: 2212 Talley Ct Rd
Leesburg, FL 34748
Phone number: 904-326-3456
Top
Airport Operations and Facilities
Airport Use: Private
Wind indicator: Yes
Segmented Circle: No
Control Tower: No
Landing fee charge: No
Sectional chart: Jacksonville
Region: ASO - Southern
Boundary ARTCC: ZJX - Jacksonville
Tie-in FSS: GNV - Gainesville
FSS on Airport: No
FSS Toll Free: 1-800-WX-BRIEF
Airport Services
Fuel available: 100LL

Top
Runway Information
Runway 18/36
Dimension: 3200 x 100 ft / 975.4 x 30.5 m
Surface: TURF,
Runway 18 Runway 36
Traffic Pattern: Left Left
Displaced threshold: 600.00 ft 0.00 ft

Runway 18W/36W
Dimension: 3300 x 125 ft / 1005.8 x 38.1 m
Surface: WATER,
Runway 18W Runway 36W
Traffic Pattern: Left Left

Top
Radio Navigation Aids
ID Type Name Ch Freq Var Dist
IAK NDB Palatka 243.00 05W 17.9 nm
DED NDB Deland/dcmsnd 201.00 05W 27.2 nm
GN NDB Wynds 269.00 04W 33.9 nm
LEE NDB Leesburg 335.00 04W 38.5 nm
EVB NDB New Smyrna Beach 417.00 04W 40.6 nm
SFB NDB Sanford 408.00 05W 42.7 nm
NIP TACAN Jacksonville 19X 04W 48.7 nm
NZC TACAN Cecil/dcmsnd 088X 04W 49.8 nm
VQQ VOR Cecil 117.90 03W 49.8 nm
SGJ VOR/DME St Augustine 031X 109.40 06W 34.4 nm
OMN VORTAC Ormond Beach 073X 112.60 00E 25.9 nm
OCF VORTAC Ocala 084X 113.70 00E 36.8 nm
GNV VORTAC Gators 109X 116.20 04W 39.2 nm
DAB VOT Daytona Beach 111.00 31.5 nm
Top
Remarks
• SEAPLANE BASE PARALLEL TO TURF RWY IN LAKE WEST OF TURF RWY.
• SEAPLANE RWY 18W/36W CLSD INDEFLY.
• VFR, PVT USE ONLY.
I might stop in just to check out the new place as I will be right up the road at Haller in the RV. Still did not get the mystery electrical problem solved in the Searey. Enjoyed lunch today.... if only Dave Lima could have seen that one young lady on the beach at Gator Joes.... Wow!!

Survey says ..........12!!

Having my young and impressionable nephew along kept me from shooting 1000 shots of the beautiful beach scenery, Robert. Thank you for all the tales of the high seas that sent him home with a taste of salt in his gut! (He is now thinking maritime school at Texas Tech.)

What happened? You guys still hold the record for the best picture ever on the site created at Gator Joe's.
(especially the one on the picnic table) Please try harder next time to get some pictures!

    Robert,
Shame on ya'. Less than 2 miles from my Searey and not a word of warning. Did you get to see the real man's hangar of Pat and Dave? Complete with bunks, ready room, beer, and not to mention a couple of really nice RV's

    Dave,

Dan and I both felt very guilty about leaving our cameras behind and not sharing the highlights of our day at Gator Joes. To make some amends, here are a couple highlights from a recent trip to Crete.

Rick,

I ended up not flying at all on Saturday. During my taxi for take off the tail wheel lock failed on the RV and would not lock back in. I was trying a new tail wheel fork that gives better ground clearance but obviously has other issues. I had to jump in the truck to make a meeting in Steinhatchee that I planned to fly to after Haller. I had to leave the time machine behind and travel as a mere mortal.

I did not realize you are that close to NAS Haller. I have been there a couple times and really enjoy flying with Pat and Dave. It is a very nice hanger and I do love the Ready Room. If I had a hanger like NAS Haller or the Tashmahanger, I would never be at the house!

I will give you a call and try to stop by the next time I head that way. Attachments:

    Robert,

My airport is just NE of Haller. You probably noticed it, as it is pretty large. It is an old Navy training base from WWII, but the only active runway is 5/23. All the other runways are still there, but used for testing, car storage, etc etc. call next time you're up.

Yes, let us know the next time you're passing thru. My plane is about the 6th hangar north of Pat's hangar... but I don't remember seeing the 2 girls around there.
