That looks like a great time for all and what an amazing place to live, I want a Searey just looking at all the pictures of smiling faces.

    Ian:

These pictures just add to the proof that it is a family. I have liked the Searey for many years now. Like you, not knowing which aircraft to purchase, just being able to fly. Have watched many videos on U-Tube and the factory DVD and it just keeps adding up.

Last January in Sebring, FL I meet a few guys around the LSX model, that did it for me. I returned home to Chester, VA where I meet up with a Searey flyer. After that lunch and visit to his hanger, I was hooked. A couple weeks later, I was allowed on this site (maybe I should introduce myself like you did). I have told my wife that this is no longer a dream but a goal.

Sure am sorry I missed this event. I just could not make up my mind to drive that far for the day or not. Well, I made the wrong decision...

Scott, I see why you were so taken by the LSX at Sebring. It outclimbed me a couple of days ago, when I was solo and low on fuel and it had two big guys aboard. And at Garner's yesterday it was by far the best, most interesting SeaRey there.

So professor, what changes made it out climb you?

    Hiya Eric,
The LSX wing has real gap seals and redesigned hinges. The internal ribs are all metal, no plastic widgets or packing tape. The tail is much stronger with two separate wires and new gap seals and hinges. No washing around in the prop wash. SN1 doesn't have wing cuffs. I think those are the main performance enhancers.
Prof Ladd

I'll post something further on STS.

Is the wing/airfoil same shape/size (except for the cuff)? You do travel with your vernier calipers?

The VG's will only be legal on the kit built experimental registered versions won't they? How long are the cuffs? Do you know what engine was fitted to the LSX talked about and the prop type? My interest is peaked, sorry for the interrogation.

In the words of your fellow Searey owner, 'look out, it'll bite you'. (Can't remember his name but he had one for sale at Sebring - with the nose looking like wood slats.)
