[rant on]

The one bad thing about my hangar is that I'm on the main drag, so I have a constant stream of people walking by, stopping by, wanting to talk, wanting me to listen to them, etc... I started with the 5 minute rule (I'll talk to you for 5 minutes, after that I'm back to work and you get a tool put in your hand.), now I'm down to the grunt rule (If I'm busy I'll grunt a hello but I'm not going to stop.)

So there I was Friday evening, been working all day treating the tubing with linseed oil, I'm tired, hungry, oily, and trying to get done. I'm bent over with one of the big tubes full of oil, my back is killing me, a tape spot has sprung a hole and oil is leaking out, I'm having a hard time gripping it and some guy and his wife pull up and starts talking at me. Not with me, but AT me with a constant chain of thought: 'Oh yeah, Progressive Aerodyne. You must be building a SeaRey. Yeah, that's a good airplane, I want one. Yeah, I saw it at Oshkosh, you ever been to Oshkosh? So yeah I saw one there but I didn't fly it. But like I said, I saw it and I like it but I can't afford it. So I'll be checking in on you and when you're done you're going to take me flying.'

Swear to god, it's a good thing he was out of range or that tube might have sprung a leak in the direction of his car.

[/rant off] Thanks for listening.

Attachments:

You'll soon learn to close the door while you're working! Everyone loves to come by for a chat.

We were all wannabes at one time. Maybe someday he will be building a Searey and someone will bug him.

Oh believe me, I've already met some great people and it's becoming a kind of neutral zone for some of the warring airport political parties. I plan on keeping it that way. Yo Yo Ma, Prince, Alice Cooper, Showtunes, I'm getting a good collection of music ready.
