Now if he had a searey....no problem (just might not be able to maneuver quite as well)

Well, the slo mo was cool, but here is a video showing more of his qualifying run, and you can see the stall that brings him down to the water.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d5b_1275818947

A couple milliseconds makes a big difference...
Here is another Red Bull racer in the same situation, but stall recovery was a bit too slow.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=7d6_1271342350

Wow! Those are fascinating videos, Tony. It would be good if we could somehow simulate the ground at, say, 2,000 feet with tethered balloons, or something of the sort so we could practice actual stalls with a close visual reference.

Don - hard to simulate the effect of GWFID (gut-wrenching fear of imminent death)

Yeah. How about a smoke runway in the sky? It wouldn't be smooth and flat, but would at least be something to aim at.

Don, try your stall practice on a day with nice small wispy clouds. Of course always maintain proper distances from said clouds.

That helps, Eric, but it's not the same as what you see when actually landing. I'd like a 1,000 foot holographic runway in the sky, preferably with holo-trees and holo-lights, and maybe a few holo-turkeys on the runway.
