Saturday was the kind of day that Searey's were made for. After over four hours of going nowhere, but landing on every available body of water, I returned to the hangar with most of the fuel gone. Looking out at the evening sky, I could not bring myself to tie her down, so after a few minutes to fuel back up, we were off again for another glorious hour and a half. If I were the poet that Dan is, I would wax poetic about the days events, but since I'm not, I'll just say Thanks PA for this bird that lets us mortals fly like the gulls.!!

You've said it all right there, Rick. The best poetry says the essential thing exactly and in the simplest way. It's Occam's Razor applied to language.

Rick.....that was a very fine (excellent in fact) piece of poetry....I felt like I was there with you feeling the warmth of the day and the joy you had experienced.....beautiful.

Look out Dan we have another budding writer here!

Amen brother Rick. On my way to / from FL I would sometimes be in the air for 8-9 hours in a day. And every day I couldn't wait to get back up the next day. Amen brother indeed.

Thanks Rick! After standing in the dreary mist for the 6th day in a row I really needed that. No, I'm not being facetious. Your words and a imagination help us bridge the doldrums..

Your conclusion is acutely accurate, Rick. Amazing how the little SeaRey can either leave you speechless or in a mind flooded with words. It might first have been an Arabian concept, but PA has succeeded in devising a magic carpet to rival the gulls.

Frank, do you think they're a one hit wonder? Kerry told me a couple of years ago they where working on a 4 seater, has anyone heard anything about that?

    Gentleman and gentle women,

Please refrain from describing what a joyous time you have piloting that silly flying boat. It can’t possibly be that much fun. Joy riding for six to eight hours, landing and returning to the air as if you were one of God’s creatures meant to fly.

I am tired reading about all the good times each of you has while guiding that flying anchor around from lake to pond, from grass strip to air show, strutting your amphibious albatross as if it were some form of pedigree the whole world needed to see and enjoy.

I can’t believe you can have that much pleasure. I find it hard to swallow those stories of how you fly singly or in flocks to different lakes, places to eat or just follow the sun on a wing and a prayer. In fact, I don’t believe a word of it.

Speaking of words and based upon your non-realistic tails, I think the word “amphibious” should be broken down into two words, “Am fibbing.” No one can have that much fun unless he is rich, retired, and single.

After reading those fairy tales for the last six months on splash and dash I actually considered committing Harry Carey but I am not a Cubs fan.

You may resume composing again in about two months. Why? Good question. That’s when 83-007 will be done and you, collectively, are making it hard to survive day by day with all the entertaining and knowledgeable articles written with enthusiasm and read with much anticipation.

Now for some real thoughts:

1. If you take some digital pictures of your panel, e mail it to me and I will put them in
a folder and send it to anyone interested in looking at other instrument panels.

2. Send me your checklists for runway takeoff, water takeoff, pre-water landing, pre
runway landing, and any other reminders, check lists or notes that help you fly safely.

3. Suggestions for tail wheel taxing, takeoff and landing to help one prevent ground
looping.

4. Preparations and planning for any trip over four hours long.

5. What you take on a trip; such as, safety gear, food, extra communications and other
items you feel are important for your enjoyment and safety.

6. Do you wear a life vest when flying on/over water, what kind or brand, cost and
where purchased?

7. Any other suggestions for someone who has less than two total hours in a SeaRey
and only with an instructor?

8. I wrote an article entitled, “How and Why I Choose a SeaRey.” If you would like a
copy send an e-mail to Donbee33@aol.com and in the subject line put “SeaRey
Article.”

Thanks for your ideas, help and information. If you want to talk, call 248 / 212 – 2142.

See you at Oshkosh.

Don Bosco
Thanks for bonding 83 - 007

What is this?--Some newbie with the temerity to imply that Dan, Frank, Jon, Don (all fine upstanding folk) would possibly exaggerate or stretch the truth in their postings about this thing called 'searey' that we all love so dearly!!! ----and to expect answers to all those operational questions is surely insanely optimistic; since the collection of opinions and variations in descriptions and numbers will boggle your mind. Anyway, welcome aboard Don, and hurry up with your building ---then start flying it the way Paige/Kerry tells you to; then when their 'beef' is out of seat#2, you will find it flies much differently anyway!
