Jim, reminds me of a posting by Ed Irizarry a couple of months back. I hope Ed doesn't mind me reposting:

Once upon a time I was given an ultimatum; 'THE @#$&&# PLANE OR ME!!!!!!!

Today I am a proud owner of a SeaRey.

I got in trouble for just showing this posting to my wife. I'm a lucky guy, I have a lovely wife and a Searey!!

    Erik,

The one we're building for the Orlando Science Center is close to being finished. 912S, full panel, Xponder, ELT, will be painted with Poly-Spray silver UV coating - color scheme is up to the buyer.

This aircraft is fully built now (by myself), just ran the engine yesterday for the first time. Will be trailering from the shop to the hanger either tomorrow or Monday.

Sorry, I know the owner won't go that low. Another one for sale with low hours, in Maine, you might look into, but I believe it has a 912 and not a 912s:

Richard Hinman 207-566-7101

It was built in Florida in 1996 and has the early Kevlar 'A' hull. Might be good idea to ask someone at PA about this hull first since they discontinued the Kevlar hulls for some reason and went straight fiberglass....

I had a ride with Richard Hinman in his Sea-Rey. He did a beautiful job and it flew very nice. It is in grreat condition. He treats it like 'his wife', with lots of TLC
Jack West

Is Richard's wife for sale too?

Was this while he was still in Florida or after he moved it to Maine?

I will second your opinion. I saw it a couple years ago and saw that he did a good job building it.

    Erik,

I don't know the plans for the OSC sale. First they were going to keep it on display, then they decided to auction it. I dunno if that's going to be in conjunction with an OSC benefit, or just put it on ebay. I'm not a dealer, btw. Our EAA chapter the local AIAA chapter and a group of retired LockMart engineers are donating our time and acting as a live exhibit at the Science Center.

I'll take my camera in within the next few days and get some pix. We're looking to paint it in the next week with the silver UV poly spray. I haven't seen the prop or exhaust yet, though.

They got a significant discount on the plane from PA and I think a lot of the instruments were either donated or deeply discounted. May end up being a bargain... dunno.

    Jim,
Thanks for the update on the process. The interested buyer in is the process of selling his Taylorcraft. Once this is done, he will buy a searey...This will be in the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks for allll of everyones help. I will let Rich (buyer) make the decision on which one he going after-Eric

Jeff:: Richards wife is definately not for sale - - she is a rare gem...
Mark: The ride was out of Norridgewock, Me. field. One thing I noticed was he beefed up the tail with extra hinges and wires..

Mark Alan MacKinnon - Jun 06,2004 Viewers | Reply
Jack, one of the things he pointed out to me, about the tail wires, was he felt they did not attach to the stab at the pivot point, so he moved them to where he thought the pivot point was. I questioned this to myself, but didn't argue with him. I think the wires ARE at the correct pivot point from the factory and it was a matter of his visual judgement that he thought they weren't.
