For general interest, this came in my email today:

Dear Flying Enthusiasts,

Many of you have e-mailed asking about the upcoming 31st Annual International Seaplane Fly-In on Moosehead Lake.

If you've already received the pilot info. packet that was mailed via postal service earlier last month, please disregard this notice. Otherwise, read on!

The 31st Fly-In is being held Sept. 9-12 at Stobie Seaplane Base, Dept. of Fish & Game, East Cove, Greenville.

For complete details, photos and to download the registration form, click on our new Web Site: www.seaplanefly-in.org. There, you'll find registration forms for membership and meals for any or all three nights. It would help us out tremendously if you pre-registered by August 24 so we can get an accurate head count for the planning of the weekend. This year, the cook-out and the Sat. night banquet will be held at a private hangar at the airport. Thursday night is the cruise and then docking at Kelly's Landing Restaurant for dinner, with the great view up West Cove.

You can look forward to seeing vintage floats and amphibious aircraft, warbirds, experimentals, and ultralights throughout the weekend. Fly-bys and exhibitions are expected to include the new Wipline turbo Beavers, Widgeons and Caravans. Plenty of your every day workhorses should be around too. Look for the spectacular to the peculiar. Mostly, come ready for a good time!

Contests take place all day Saturday, Sept. 11. One of the changes to the weekend schedule includes having the Awards ceremony take place during the day after the contests are run.

Early birds can catch the social cruise aboard the Katahdin Thursday night, followed by dinner at Kelly's Landing Restaurant. Friday is open to flying the region, catching up with friends, followed by an evening cook-out and aviation oriented presentations up at the airport, where you'll also see many changes taking place this year, including more parking and the construction of an arrivals building. Plans include hearing from two of our Alaskan seaplane pilots.

If you are flying in, but do not expect to use your aircraft in contests or demonstrations, please allow our ground crew to assist you in parking on land. If you're amphibious and not participating in the contests and are able to, please park at nearby Greenville Airport.

New and expanded ground shuttles will be available to and from the seaplane base. Please bring along tie-downs and ropes. You may clear customs in Jackman or Bangor. Contact flight service and ask for our Fly-In NOTAM.

For help with accommodations, contact the Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce at 207-695-2702 or 1-888-876-2778.

See you in Sept!

The Fly-In Crew
