Charlie, I hope your namesake is as nice as you. We will be right in the path of Hurricane Charley, if it stays on course, and we are on an island!!! Judy Bennett

Hang on Judy!! Some one drew a bullseye on your airport or X61, not sure which one yet

Looks like X61, but we're on the bad side of the hurricane. So far we getting bands of rain and wind, but about 10pm we'll be getting the worst of it. They wanted us to leave Merritt Island, but we decided to stay. JB

Merritt Island Report: We had bands of rain and wind, the worse being 60 or 70 miles an hour. We never lost power, it flickered a few times, but never lost it. We always lose power in 'normal storms', but not this one!!! There apparently was a tornado that went from Coco Beach, close to us and down 95. My neighbor was going to her son's house in Titusville and it was behind them; but going the opposite direction!! Titusville had more winds and damage, and they lost their power at 4pm and was off until this morning. On the other hand, Port Charlotte's airport had alot of damage to their hangers, and the planes that were tied down were ruined, they had the full hit of 145 mph!! Orlando Executive, OIA, and Sanford also had alot of damage with sustained winds of 106!! There are now two new tropical systems, and the one is following the same path as 'Charley.'

I will say if the 'eye' was heading right for us with 100+ winds we would not have stayed. We left in 1999 when hurricane Floyd was headed right for us, a catagory 5 hurricane. Fortunately it veered offshore at our area, and then it came back on shore further north. JB

Glad some of you are ok. I understand Lake Wales was not so lucky. Got the bad news my friend lost his fairly new SeaRey yesterday.

Bruce & Judy... Glad you survived the storm intact as well as the X61 squadron. Sorry to hear about Travis Elmore's Searey in Lake Wales.
