If enough sign up I would like to plan the subject fly-In.
When: Second weekend in May (13th - 15th).
Where: High Valley Resort. About 15 minutes north of Dahlonega Georgia. Elev. is 2800 Ft. surronded by 4000 Ft. mountains.
Things-To-Do: Resort has all kinds of out door games. You can tie your SeaRey very near your campsite. Can fly to Lake Chatuge at Hiewasse (20 minutes most) land on lake and visit Hiewasse mountain town.
Or you can fly to Dahlonega and land at their airport (paved) 9A0 and visit Dahlonega which features the old gold mining days there. Or you can fly around the mountains and sightsee. (Blairsville airport 46A is about 10 minutes flying time from High Valley Resort)
High Valley Airport is a 2000 ft. good sod runway w/ample parking - bring your own tie downs.
If we have twenty or more show up they can get a country band for Sat. night. Not sure at this time who pays but will check this out.
Also, with 20 or more people they can have meals carted. Good ole' country cooking. Or you can cook at your campsite.
Facilities: Very clean shower areas and rest rooms. There is a Pavilion area (under cover) with family style dining ?, snack bar, fireplace, TV and radio/CD player.
Auto Gas in available.
Camp Sites: $10 Sgl & $15 Dbl for 2 nites + $2 for elect. hookup + tax.
Log Club Cabins (very plush) sleep 4: $336 for 2 nites. Right next to mountain stream and porch looking right at the runway.
Other Cabins sleep 8: $336 (total for 8) for 2 nites.
Bunkhouse sleep 2: $80 for 2 nites.
If you sign up I will give you the phone number where you can make reservations.
Note: There are no towns or restaurants near the Resort, which is in Suches GA, but there is a service station/store within 0.2 miles. Resort will furnish transportation to it.
Think you Florida boys would enjoy the mountain flying and believe this would great fun.
My email address is rjonesfly@msn.com
Phone: 770.985.8607
Cell: 404.456.4767

Bob Jones

This is the year for SeaRey gatherings. We've got a bumper crop. The place looks nice Bob. Here's a link I found to the website:

http://www.highvalleyresort.com/airport.htm

Bob, a few weeks ago when Charlie and I starting trying to firm up interest in the Choo Choo flyin, Dan mentioned to me that you had talked about doing a North Georgia flyin. Since Chattanooga is right on the line he suggested I contact to you about maybe combining them somehow. I meant to email Charlie Huskey about it who is the originator of the Choo Choo flying, but haven't yet. Anyway I meant to. I am about to be away for a week but I wanted to post this before I left.

If there's too much going on for folks to commit to this Georgia flyin this year, maybe we can incorporate some in the Choo Choo. Sorry to not handle all this back channel but like I said I'm going to be away (on a 30ft sailboat in the Virgin Islands for a week!). Talk to Charlie Huskey or if you guys are interested in doing this in May as well in Georgia then speak up.

I personally would not be able to attend anything that far away in May but like I said, the place looks nice. Hope to see you at the Choo Choo Flyin.

Color me tan...

Thank you for the reply Bert.
I tried several times to email Charlie but email was returned, before I posted the GA Mountain flyin.
I don't want to interfere with your Choo Choo flyin so I will withdraw it for now and post it again later. I was trying to pick a month when, with a little luck, the winds and thunderstorms would not cause a problem.
I will attend your Choo Choo flyin.
Have a great sailing trip.
Bob

BOB, are you sure you have right e mail address for me. tennflightceh@webtv.net , mail box not full so know no other reason for returned mail. The Choo Choo fly in will be in Sept, but no definated date yet. Trying to make arrangements with Coast Guard and State Park officials.

Charlie that is the email address I used.
If you are going to have your CHOO CHOO flyin in Sept. then maybe I should try to do the GA Mtn flyin in May. What do you think?

BOB, I believe those flatland gator lovers are afraid of those mountains with high peaks and turbulent winds. JUST KIDDING GUYS. Go for it BOB, the CHOO CHOO flyin is not untill september. Trying now to get some dates at other airstrips for fly in breadfast. Any of you SeaRey gurus want to step forward to do a safety talk or class on anything of interest on evening by the campfire?

    Bob,

Sounds interesting to me. I can not say for sure I will be able to go; however, I like the idea.
