Last month I landed at a small airport in Maine, Charlie, before spotting a FAA car on the prowl. I tried to keep a low profile while fueling. The line guy told me not to worry. The FAA was just checking out a Coast Guard jet that landed half way down the runway and ended up down the hill. I'll bet the officers on board were not impressed.

Not good to land long on a short runway

It was the Berlin airport, Mark.

Charlie - amazing that it blew out a fireball after everyone was out and then one engine goes to max power and doesn't suck water in with the intake only inches from the water. I wouldn't have believed it if it wasn't on tape.

What in blue blazes could cause that engine to throttle up on its own like that ?

The only thing I could think of is salt water shorting out the computers

I'll 2nd that, it sure looks like it started it's self up. Could this be a case of FADEC with a mind of it's own after shorting out, very scary stuff.

How about a TOGA switch? 'Take Off / Go Around' <br />If he hit the TOGA switch as he was crashing and then the engine was trying to spit out the water for a minute while they unloaded the plane... Or it could just be that when everything shorts out, it defaults to full power.
