Since this is a non-searey specific issue, I'll post to the S&D site - if folks think it should go to the tech site, I'll move it.

I'll start by saying I have not tried this product and am hoping someone with the time will try it and write an evaluation here. However, at first blush, it appears very interesting.

www.FBOWeb.com has 'layers' for Google that show many things. Some you buy, some are free - I believe the special use airspace is free.

I got the below info at: http://www.fboweb.com/fb40/pu/info/gep.aspx

'There are a number of 'overlays' you can include with Google Earth that will enhance your flight fligh tracking experience. For example, you can add a layer which provides a 3D representation of special use airspace around the United States; see the Class B airspace in its true form around Orlando International Airport (click the thumbnail on the left for an example). Another useful add-on is the collection of Sectional maps. You can load in any one of the US aviation sectional maps for any given area.'

Has anyone tried this?
It looks interesting, Ken, although I haven't actually tried it yet--because I'm too cheap to ante up the ten bucks a month. (But I love Pilot My-Cast weather on my cellphone for about the same price!).

But if you're in the AOPA, you have 'free' access to their terrific Real-Time Flight Planner. (Runs only in Microsoft Windwoes.) The newest version can overlay weather info on the flight planner map.
