I had a very favorable interview today with a company called Avantair,
http://www.avantair.com,
and my hiring is pending on the outcome of my drug test, though I started the paperwork process after the interview. I was told it could be two weeks before I'm contacted, maybe sooner. I said no problem, I was hoping for a vacation between jobs anyway. It's for a position as mechanic and avionic technician on their Piaggio Avanti aircraft.

Btw, I was officially let go of my old job last Thursday, along with another guy. Perfect timing.

So I'm at a hotel in Lakeland for a week, and may be extending it a second week.

I'm hoping to meet up with some of the gang while I'm down here. I got here about a day too late for Sun&Fun. And I hope to visit PA and see the new LSX.

Assuming I get the job, I will be looking for a reasonable rent place to move to. Avantair is in Clearwater, but am thinking of the Lakeland area as long as drive is not too long. I could use some ideas or suggestions.

cell phone is 207-299-7348.

I think the drive through Lakeland and Tampa will be a bear at rush hour. North of Clearwater is New Port Richey or you might consider Zephyrhills which has a good airport and hangars.

Did you study for the drug test?

I agree Jon; the drive back was bad through the Tampa construction. I'll look at the other areas. This will be after working a night shift, too.

I did take a couple of Ibuprofen this morning, never thinking of a drug test. I'm hoping they don't give a suspicious result.

Mark - I drive from Odessa (8 miles North of TPA) through Clearwater, to Bay Pines. It takes an hour at 6am & 1.5 hours to get home at night. The Piaggios are a very busy air taxi service out of Clearwater IAP. Lots of very cheap housing very close to Clearwater if you don't mind sleeping armed. Actually, just write me back channel. I can even recommend an agent.

Let's look at the equation Mark:

1. Your job will be at an airport
2. You own a Stingrey
3. The weather is nearly always beautiful in Florida
4. You don't want to be bogged down with rush hour traffic.

You see where this is going......Fly the Stingrey to work! I can just see that big Stingrey GRIN as you skim over the masses sitting in traffic.

Except for getting home thru the thunderstorms... naw, just rent a hanger at the airport and live there.
