I've been flying under Sport Pilot catagory (my Stingray qualifies) for the last year; I allowed my medical to expire. But my biennial review is coming up next month, which I've always done in the past with an instructor in a 172. Does anyone know if I will have to get my medical just to get my biennial review in a regular certified aircraft like a 172?

I'm still in Florida, but planning on returning to Maine in June. I thought I could get my biennial out of the way while down here, in a sport-pilot catagory plane (Searey or otherwise), since these light planes are not so common in Maine. I don't have a problem getting my medical again, but since my job search has been unsuccessful, every dollar counts.

Mark, I think you are OK with the 172. See the following:

http://www.sportpilot.org/questions/afmviewfaq.asp?faqid=8

Thanks Eric, that answers the question.
