My uncle told me he and his clan will be traveling to a family cabin 'off the grid' and 40 miles from the nearest road in Ontario. He said you get there by a long boat trip or seaplane. He asked if I wanted to fly up. (I can't this time, but maybe later) It is called Upper Manitou Lake and he said it's near 'Lubagoon'? Anyone know it?

He said the building hasn't been lived in for many years but they are going to fix it up.

Great seaplane area Ken. Look for a town called Dryden in western Ontario.Go east on Hwy 17 along the shores of Lake Wabigoon.
To get to Upper Lake Manitou, go south out of Dryden on Hwy 502 towards Fort Frances. About midway (70 kms ) long that hwy, you will be abeam the lake...it is off to the west. I'll dig out my Ontario seaplane chart a see if there is a float operation on the lake. I suspect that there are numerous ones as the roads are indeed, very sparse.
Bring loads of insect repellant. It will be worth it as this is a great fishing area.
Cheers....Dave

Thanks Dave! They told me they were quoted $1000 to fly in 3-4 of them by seaplane or $375 by boat. They chose boat. I do hope to visit next year when I take my 'grand tour'.
