This is a video of landing at 2G6 (McGlaughlin SPB) on the Appomattox River and taking off again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_oIgmaLU6E

(This video was originally in the File Cabinet, but I moved it to YouTube to save SnD's storage space.)

There's a private SPB on the Appomattox River, near where it flows into the James, between Petersburg and Hopewell, Virginia. In this video, it's straight ahead in the first scene and again just before the third scene fades to black.

The hangar is disguised to look like a house when the door is down. The only clue is that there's a concrete ramp the width of the house.

It's 2G6, Mc Laughlin Seaplane Base. The location is Walthall Channel. Unfortunately, the hangar has been empty for several years.

There's a high power line just to the east--to the right when I was on left base. The towers are about 500 feet tall, I think, and feel a lot taller when you're turning inside them.

Not exactly a model landing this time, but the conditions were a bit odd: gusty winds, but almost glassy water.

I'm always surprised by how quickly my SeaRey stops on glassy water and how far it coasts on riffles.

Great video Don, I especially like the camera field of view and the audio mixing with the engine, mic, and Gear Alert System! Any time you'd like to share your A-V secrets I'm sure there's a bunch like me that would appreciate. Thanks for posting.<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML.
