The photos start with three shots of the final planning meeting at PA and end with the after-action dinner for the staff and guests at the Casa Mia Cafe.

The open house was structured around a tour of the new Tavares facility and presentations of the various phases of the SeaRey experience from kit manufacture to flying adventures:

SIGN-IN: Approximately 500 people signed in and received raffle tickets for a free SeaRey ride. Some 40 to 50 rides were awarded.

TRIDENT MARINE MANUFACTURING: The other resident in the facility produces commercial pontoon boats all welded up with aluminum. They have been sold to over 30 countries worldwide. Trident also made the docks for the City of Tavares.

RAW STOCK RECEIVING: The first stop in the tour shows the racking and initial cutting of the aluminum stock used in the SeaRey.

WELDING & DEBURRING: A separate room for steel welding and cut deburring.

MACHINE SHOP: The manufacturing processes are completed here using computerized machinery including a milling machine, lathe, brake, flat bed router etc. These machines are15 years old, all paid for and have produced over 500 kits to date. Another room contains the small parts inventory which feed components to the packing area.

PACKING AREA: The parts for each kit are pulled from stocked shelves and racks to fill a 16' x 4' x 3.5' plywood shipping container that holds the complete kit except the engine which gets shipped separately. The kits may get shipped anywhere worldwide or be shuttled into the PA Builder Assist Center in the main part of the building.

BUILDER ASSIST CENTER: Currently the four bays are occupied with construction projects. Builders may rent space to construct their own kits and, if desired, may obtain professional assistance with the project.

PRESENTATIONS:
Don Stearns spoke on kit construction showing his uncovered wing.
Anger Rivera described his work on instrument panels and electrical systems.
Carl Wood with a former career in the airline industry also may support avionics installations.
Mike Lynds described the Stitts covering process.
Russell Brown and Jim Ratte spoke on the Rotax engine alternatives.
Ollie Kennedy spoke on SeaRey ownership and flying and showed a pre-owned SeaRey for sale.
John McLeroy, Greg Burtner and Helen Woods are CFIs who are available for flight training in the SeaRey and are developing a training syllabus.
Adam Morrison and Severin Kempf represent Streamline Designs who have been doing the LSA certification work to meet ASTM standards.
The City of Tavares was represented by Bill Neron, director for commercial development.
Adam Yang from China described the thrust PA is making into this potentially huge market.
Dan Nickens showed his SeaRey Flitterings manuscript and photos from his adventures around the lower 48 and Alaska.

At noon, the city manager, John Drury, and representatives from the city council and members of the Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony immediately after Kerry and Paige taxied from Lake Idamere up the new ramp to the parking area officially opening PA as the aircraft manufacturer of Tavares, 'America's Seaplane City'.

Could not make it this weekend, and very sorry I didn't. I'll be in the area Thursday through Monday, maybe I can get over there to see the new place. Thank You for sharing the great discription and photos. This is a good company, very fun aircraft and a large 'family' following. Seems the longer I wait and save, the more I need. It's driving my wife crazy that I won't make up my mind to buy new and build or used and wish I would have built (with help of course).
