I wanted to kick off a category of news comprised of complaint stories. That way, we can avoid relearning the same lessons...

The only complaint we have had on our lake is coming in too low over the houses when landing...many
love it, but it makes some nervous...

Years ago Doug & I got kicked out of a private lake (it was very small with no obvious habitation nearby.)
The police showed up at the door after the owner looked up the registration.

In prep for a gaggle we got another call from a cottager on Georgian Bay about buzzing his cottage at roof top height. (We were landing but....)

On another Gaggle, a Snug Harbour cottager walked 1/4 mile to kick us off 'his' private beach. Luckily, two nearby (closer) cottagers who had given us permission to stop for a fish lunch intervened.

At Sauble Beach Lake Huron, another cottager biked to the beach to complain about the 'constant' noise over his cottage after Ellen and I landed in the big lake. (It was the first and last time I landed there.)

Am I gun shy? You betcha!

North bound on the Sacramento river the fisherman on the East side of the boat waved and smiled. On the return leg 20 mins later, the fisherman in the West side of the same boat gave me the 'bird'. Win some lose some

Should this thread be on STS?

Not sure Eric...there are plenty of folks on SND with seaplanes that aren't seareys

OK we'll all just talk about 'a friend' that had complaints.

Female boater pulled up her top but didn't leave it up long enough for me to get camera out and take picture.

I can't say where or exactly when, since I really don't know, but someone decided to shoot
me with what the police believe was a 9 mm. Fortunately, it passed cleanly through my
right wing with minimal damage to my plane and no damage to me. I never heard or felt it
but only noticed the hole sometime later. Now that is what I call a complaint form the public

My neighbor complained about the noise when going up my ramp as it is steep and requires a good bit of
power. When I explained that his big lawn tractor made as much noise as my Rey going up the ramp and
he on only had to listen to the Rey for 15 seconds and I had to listen to his tractor for 2 hours. He
agreed and there were no more complaints from him.

note: air boats make way, way more noise than a Rey but they, sound like 'an airplane'.
as ambassadors of seaplanes we need to Educate and be the 'really nice guys' with the
seaplane That my friends goes very far with goodwill to the neighbors and people walking
by. I always ask anyone seemingly interested If they would care to take a closer look. we
DO NOT want to be known as a bunch of 'clicky butt holes with airplanes'. agreed??
Well said Troy, I strongly agree.
I don't get close enough to anyone to see their fingers. The cows in the pasture next to the house do moo at me every once in awhile.
