Bowden’s Landing Fly-in is Sunday November 14 2010

The Fly-in starts at 9:am. If you are flying in, and landing on the lake, the GPS Coordinates are 28*57’14.25”N 81*40’52.50”W. Use bearing 116* from Ocala Intl. (OCF) and 234* from Ormond Beach (OMN) and it crosses Island Lake in North Lake county, just north west of Umatilla Airport (X23). If you are flying in and landing at X23, call 352-669-3752 for pick up at the airport.
If you are driving in, the address is 16761 Keene Road Umatilla, Florida 32784. See map.
The web address is www.Bowdens-Landing.com for more info.

Flying to the the lake you will be looking for a lake with an island in the middle. Bowden's Landing is on the east shore of Island Lake. The cement ramp is next to the flag pole near the neighbor's boat dock, there is a clear area in the island of lake grass in front of the ramp this year so you can have a straight in approach to the ramp. The shore is not suitable for pulling up into the ground but you can beach their if you like.

Once you pull your plane out of the water, pull up into the yard and find a spot to park. We would like to line the planes on the north property line and then the south property line first and then make a line down the middle of the back yard. If we run out of space, the neighbor on the south side is letting us park the overflow there.
Do not taxi closer than 20 feet from the shore or you will get stuck in the soft ground.

We will be serving burgers, hot dogs, bake beens, chips, brownies and soda. Some of the neighbors may bring covered dishes. You are welcome to bring a covered dishes if you like.

Lake front neighbors will be there so be nice so they will let me turn the lake into a Seaplane Base. My local EAA Chapter will be there and at lest one of them has decided to sell his plane and get a LSX. Lets convert more.

Please go to the poll section and RSVP there and if you want a T-Shirt, their is a poll for that too.

This may be my last Fly-in so lets make it count.

Attachments:

Thanks, Tom from all of your Central Florida Seareyers. We appreciate your hard work and effort. Perhaps an admission charge to defray costs will help make it an on-going event....

Last fly-in I had in February I put out a Donation box and had a 50/50 drawing and it covered the money I paid for food and door prizes. I am doing the same for this one.
I think a door charge or charging for food turns off some people. I heard some left Garner's when asked to pay for food. If I don't recover the cost this time, I may charge for food next year. But this year its free. Unless you want a T-shirt.

    Hi Tom.
My wife and I are planning to make a visit to the Fly-in - but arriving by car (unless there are a couple of spare seats in a couple of Seareys...). We will be travelling from the JAX area and will try and bring a contribution to the day's festivities. How about a 'rum cake'? This will be our first meeting with the Searey crowd and we are really looking forward to it. Hope the weather plays ball.... See you there!
