'The selected content item has been removed'

Oh... fungacide! And just when I wanted to thank Andy Shane for posting that excellent document about seaplane ops. Maybe it will show up soon on STS. Yes?
Don, I removed it. I just wanted to post a video of a
Searey landing at sunset and the only feedback I got was criticism
(most being constructive-which I don't mind at all). If you guys want
someone to criticize, come down here and fly with PA. you all Would
have a field day...aerobatics, no pre-flights, no parachutes, no pfds
ect...it is
discouraging to share nice evening flights with the members when you
know you will get picked on for the smallest things...Dont
misunderstand me, though. I do enjoy constructive criticism especially
When it comes to safety. I do not use my shoulder harness because
of posts I've read on sts about back injuries from the kind of harness I
have. And when it comes to a pfd, one of my best friends was killed a
few months ago on the lake and probably would have survived if he
had it on. So please don't act like age has something to do with that
issue because I have experienced death on the water more than once
in my 21 years including my dads seaplane that was being flown by
his best friend

I only wear my lap belt to keep my head from hitting the inside
top of my canopy when I
drop slower than the plane. my shoulder belt is a PITA so I
dont wear that. I think I have a
PFD on board but, I can swim..
Dan's video was great. If you wanna be a Cecil B. then make
your own video.
keep up the evening flight pix's and videos Daniel. I for one
really enjoy them.
Oh! while i'm ranting... I'm not getting a GWS gear warning
system either!!!!. if I can't do my check list right every time I'm
getting wet and thats that.

Daniel, I've spent most of the day trying to figure out how to respond and still don't have any good ideas. But I'm sorry that we offended you. I'm sure no one intended that. We merely hoped to encourage you to take care of yourself and your passengers.

And your age had nothing to do with it. No one cares much about age here--but experience, especially SeaRey flying experience, does matter to some extent. There are older pilots with little SeaRey time and younger pilots with lots of SeaRey time. What we all hope to do is get to be really old pilots with lots and lots of time. I think all of us who urged you to wear a pfd and a harness were speaking from sad personal experience--knowing that you probably wouldn't listen to us, but unable to keep quiet, which would have been unconscionable.

I enjoyed your video, by the way, and I'm sorry that the conversation got diverted from it. It would be nice if you'd post it again.

Ditto, I was kinda chuckling when I wrote. Anyway, we want our young turk to live long
and prosper.

    Don
Was this discussion a pre-mid-term election joke?

Up here we take our 'restraints' seriously.

Off to the Rey...PFD and strapped in.
Ever tried to put on the PFD in the Rey cockpit?

I think I'm understanding this thread as much as I understand American politics.

Daniel I am with you and feel your frustration. I think it was a great video and look foward to many more. I posted a cool picture a few months ago of me on the step just before lift off and all I got was critisim that I didn't have enough trim. I should have resonded back and ask what Hull they fly but I didn't. I fly an A-Hull and if you can fly that hull you can fly any Searey. I know of a few that would never fly an A-hull. But I just chosed to ignored it, get frusterated and not post as much. But I am behind you and hope to see you out flying around central florida soon Daniel.

Thanks Charles...I flew yesterday (amazing weather) and will be flying a little more than normal in the coming weeks so I hope to see you out there!

Charles Cantrill - Nov 02,2010 Viewers | Reply
Yes the weather was amazing. We flew over to Gator Joes for lunch then flew around for 2.5 hours and then visted Graig at Teveres before calling a night. What a difference compared to Saturday.
