The Sugar Valley Airport (5NC2) Fly/Splash-In is this weekend, April 21. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the camaraderie, food, drinks, airplanes & tall tales. The new fire-pit will be dedicated in the afternoon. I need an RSVP by Wednesday afternoon for lunch plans. For more details, check out their website: www.sugarvalleyairport.org.

All the information you need, including frequency, is there. As stated before, the pond is adequate for Light-sport seaplanes like Seareys, J-3 Cubs, Kitfox, etc. no ramp available at the moment.

Any questions, call or email Ed 'ET' Tello at (704) 491-3152 or etseabee@yahoo.com

I landed in the pond last Saturday on my way home from Lake Murray. I landed to the south with about a 12 kt head wind. The approach was clear and landing was no problem. The pond is 2100 feet long. The southbound departere was obstructed by a dam and trees. Departing with about 11 galons on board, a 135 pound passenger and the headwind was fairly tight getting out - as little margin as I would like. In the future, I will consider a south bound departure from the pond as a solo only operation.

Hope to see a bunch of Seareys there!

Can't make this one. Mom-in-law's 80th birthday party that night and I don't want Sammie to get blamed for me being late.
