As I was about to enter the KFCI traffic pattern yesterday, two helos were doing practice approaches. One was ILS for 33 and the other was GPS for 15. Both announced 5 mile final at the same time.

I figured that was a mighty good reason to go land on the river and wait until the smoke had cleared. Besides, it was a lovely afternoon, sunny and warm, with light air and visibility good enough to see the mountains. Who would want to be taxiing a SeaRey around on the ground? Besides, there was a bridge not to fly under and power lines not to snag and nearly-glassy water. What could be better? Let the helos beat up the sky.

http://youtu.be/uF6Y0enmGwE
So Don, do you use 30 deg of Flaps as in the "3rd Notch"? I avoid forcing my flap handle down to the 3rd notch because the flaps hit the wing cable (at least on the ground).

I don't use it often, Frank, but have been experimenting a bit again lately. What I call '30 degrees' for my electric flaps agrees with PA's specification for the manual flaps' third position. There's no wire conflict in flight.
