Euclid - I was just there yesterday. I flew my Searey down to Sugar loaf (7FA1) Sunday and stayed at that hotel. You can call John Good 305-745-3211. The room was simple, clean, comfortable bed and straight out of 1970 on purpose. ($120/night) The Tiki bar is 50 feet away and on the water. Restaurant right there. Bus into town but relatively slow circuit by bus. Relaxed. If you want a sexy, jumping place, this isn't it. The runway is narrow and newly paved wide enough for a Searey. Opted not to continue on to Dry Tortuga. Maybe next year...because I'll be back. I'm told there have been several seaplane accidents by Dry Tortuga as waves can be very large.

Always wanted to land there Ken... Did you need prior permission? Tie down fee? I'll go
with you next time...and maybe Ron and Frank will join us!

No fee if staying at hotel, nominal if not. Called ahead, very welcoming. I will go back. Btw, Everglades
city ap was very welcoming and good seafood restaurants will pick you up for lunch.

Next jan or feb, lets have a dry tortuga run. BTW, was told by a seaplane rated tour operator out of
Everglades city to be full ready to not land at dry tortuga as it can have very challenging conditions and
several large commercial operators have wrecked there. He said he watched a lake lose a sponson
there and wouldn't consider a small boat hulled seaplane there. I think he underestimates the searey,
but I also listen to all advice. Oh, you are also required to carry $1M liability to get the permit. Tortuga
or not, the keys and many miles of estuarial coastline along the SW tip of the Everglades is a wonder.
