The ospreys came back from Venezuela and are rebuilding their nest on the end of our pier. They seem to have forgotten us since last summer--yell at us every time we go out there. Crabby old birds.      Attachments:

Crabby? So, Don, you called the WH for a Predator with Hellfires? I thought you liked Ospreys. My wife says she didn't do that to her Ospreys!<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Don, Ellen wants a copy of your app so she can zap a few neighbours.. |

Ellen, it's free at the Apple app store.<br /><br />I don't really have it in for the ospreys, by the way. They're great fun to watch. The female tolerates us fairly well, allthough she cusses us out a lot, but the male seems programmed to fly as soon as we get within about 200 feet, probably hoping to lure us away from the nest.<br /><br />

Don,Have you named them? My wife named ours and would go down to the dock and talk to them. (Sounds weird--but she's really not crazy.)<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Maybe we should do that, Frank. We've been calling them Masprey and Pasprey, but real proper names might tame them. (Or we might feel that they did.)

Good one Don. The Osprey live here year round and are protected. The State supplies the birds with platforms that are erected on top of the power poles. A nesting pair of birds lay claim to the same nest year round. The nest are spaced out to give the birds their own fishing grounds near the many lakes in the area. High winds seem to be their friend because they can hover in one spot while they line up their catch just under the surface of the water. They have supper sharp eyesight and can see their pray even when the waters are rough do to high winds. They're easy to photograph and I have many photos of birds I have taken over the years.      Attachments:

Great photos Russ. As for Osprey, they are protected in MD also. At least while nesting. A number of years ago, some poor sailboater with his vessel anchored out, had a pair build a nest in his mast. He was barred from using the boat for months!<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->
