Looking for your advice:

Dear Searey owners and pilots. I need your advice. I am contemplating getting my sports pilot license and buying a Searey or an Aventura II. Before you all get upset with me I just want to do my due diligence. Therefore who better to draw an opinion from that this croup. Let me say that I did have the pleasure of flying in the Lee’s Searey this past week with Kerry and was very impressed. I have not flown the Aventura II.

I am intruded with the camaraderie of the Searey group. I have been following it a few months now and am enjoying all the comments, pictures and videos. So if anyone would like to comment I would like to draw on your experiences on these two planes. Thank you. Gary 305-970-3658.
I grew up flying in the old buccaneer with Kerry and watched the evolution of that into the
searey. Nothing wrong with the aventura but its somewhat a 'glorified buccaneer' with a lil
better stream lining. But yeah, the comfort and performance of the rey is by far something
you will really never regret. Just like the other guys told ya, make sure you do your first ride
in the the aventura first and then do a demo in the Searey. That will help you in your
decision. Im sure we will be following you to see what you decide.

I got my first water ops training in an Aventura II. Owned an Aventura HP single seat. I traded it for my Searey and haven't looked back.

I owned a Aventura II for several years before the purchase of my
Searey. The Aventura was not a bad airplane, however Seareys are
better. If you buy an Aventura you will always want to upgrade to a
Searey. I was not completely happy until I sold the Aventura and
purchased my Searey. Also when I had the Aventura there was no
technical support available like there is with the Seareys. I had to learn
several expensive lessons the hard way. The hard lessons could have
been avoided If would have had technical support.

Gary,

No need to worry about getting upset. In 2000-2001 I did the same thing. Obtained
courtesy rides in each at SNF then visited both factories for closer inspection and test
flights. I chose the SeaRey because I felt it was a better design, sturdier, had sliding
canopies vs. snap-in plastic 'doors', etc. But the real swing factor was the folks at
SeaRey. Never had one regret with my selection.
