Good afternoon everyone,

It is with great pleasure that I share with you a new product for the aviation market I have
been working on for the past several months. I will soon be installing one of the first
prototypes into my beloved 407TS.

www.flypadmount.com

As we all know the iPad and the rest of the Apple products have taken the Aviation world by
storm for use as an in cockpit tool. Many of us use this as a primary means of navigation but
are still forced to use a ram mount, suction cup, or hang on to our iPads with our hands.

I was unable to find any solution for a flush mount solution which would blend right into an
aircraft's instrument panel for a clean, unobtrusive look. For this reason I designed and have
manufactured a few prototypes of what I call the 'FlyPad Mount.'

What I would love would be some feedback regarding any technical questions from the
pilot/EAB side of things you can come up with. Take a look at the website and let me know
what questions are left unanswered. Obviously, what I am lacking is still some actual
installations, but I'm hoping that some of my friends in the Searey family would like to install
these in their aircraft to be featured on the website.

I look forward to your feedback, and will be posting pictures of my installation process on the
Technical site as I progress! I can tell you that from a pilots point of view, this thing will be
awesome!

Feel free to get in touch with me directly at crew04@gmail.com, or orders@flypadmount.com,
or contact me directly at 407-493-7136.

Thanks again!
Crew Attachments:

Looks great, Crew! Very clean design. What are the overall dimensions? That is, how much larger than the i-Devices is it? I like the idea of being able to mount an i-Device right over some steam gauges and still be able to see them when necessary. So I'm wondering how it will fit on a conventional panel with--what?--maybe an inch between gauges. Will it cover part of adjacent gauges.

That's a question, not a criticism. I think it's terrific.

Do you have a price estimate yet?

Don, thank you so much for your kind words. Clean is EXACTLY what I was going for,
and I believe with the spring loaded mechanism which holds it in place it is as simple as
it could possibly be.

Additionally, it is also as small as possible over the dimensions of the iDevices. It is
only .330' wider off each side of the product, and about .600' over the top and bottom.

Pricing at the moment is:
$229 for the iPhone/iPod
$249 for the iPad Mini
$289 for the full size iPad

Hopefully as demand increases I will be able to drop the prices a bit, but as each
mount is machined from a block of delrin, the manufacturing costs are still quite high. I
would be interested in your feedback regarding price/value proposition.

Crew, I see that your post on STS is more intended for technical discussions, so I'll reply there.

Looks great Crew. If you want to know more about getting into some retail stores, I did
work for the pilot shop at Banyan FBO in Fort Lauderdale (KFXE) and I still have some
people I could try to connect you with there, when your ready and interested. But that looks
great and you will be meeting a great demand, as many people have asked me for that
particular mount when I was working at the airport.

Happy birthday, Wayne! Tell your son that mine isn't until November, but I'd be willing to accept the gift early.

Suggest you take the two semester course on operating it before trying to fly with it Wayne. And no playing with it at FL 000.2

John thank you very much for your feedback, and I may very well take you up on that
offer down the road. I'm not quite sure what they are looking for in terms of margins,
and I'm not sure I will be able to make things work from a price standpoint if I do not
just sell direct to customers. Obviously as quantity ordered increases, manufacturing
costs decrease, and it will allow me some other avenues of distribution. For now I will
simply rely on guerrilla style marketing and word of mouth, so any other pilots you may
know would like this product, please spread the word!

For now, this is just a product I knew I wanted, so I figured there had to be some
others out there as well. I cant wait to get this baby into my Searey!

def keep building your business Crew. I am a business owner and can def understand.
Price for that place is basically a presentation and you name your price and they mark it
up. They are selling RAM mounts (suction cup) or (dash mounted) for easily $60-$70
and accessories are seperate. I dont know what your production costs are but being in
fort lauderdale for a year I got to see how money is thrown around like pennies. But def
let me know when you want to talk further so i can give and assist if need be with some
direction to market to retail facilities.

Crew- interesting as I recently purchased a mini i pad mount for my new build Searey. The one I have which I modified for installation is from www.fifieldfabrications.com/. This was about $50 so you have some competition. The problem I had with this one and it appears with yours also is access to plug the audio in to the I pad. I notched out the top of the mount to allow the insertion of the audio jack before snapping in the ipad kind of like what you do with yours for the lightning adapter plug. With this unit you epoxy the lightning jack into the mount so that it plugs that part in as you insert the ipad. I do like your idea of having the mount cover the steam gauges but I won't have those with the new plane. Good Luck<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML.
