I envy you, David. It looks to be a grand trip and an excellent SeaRey Adventure.

Spare inner tubes? (Patches can't fix every flat.) Sunscreen? Knife? Matches? Duct tape? I always carry lots of granola bars.

Thanks gentleman, have spare inner tubes on standby to express post out if I need them, will take a can of tyre repair, have used it before and it works a treat. (Sunscreen? Knife? Matches? Duct tape?). Are covered in the travel bag and toolkit. Also plan on taking some powdered shakes and energy bars.

To follow the adventure on Facebook click on the link. Jon I have developed a taste for a product called Red Stag Black Cherry Kentucky straight bourbon, which I will make sure is added to our survival Kit. Great suggestion!

David - Quite the adventure, circumnavigating one's homeland! Flying around the Continental US is one I'd like to add to my buck list. A couple of observations on your logistics planning based on my hiking youth and past SeaRey cross-country trips.

1) You've planned at 8,000 mile flight at @80 knows/hr = 100 hrs minimum. This is assuming a straight line flying. Since we SeaRey types seldom fly in a straight line, it will most likely 125-150Hrs, so plan an enroute 100hr Rotax engine oil change/tune-up.

2) In my youth, several of my friends hiked the US Appalachian Trail (a 3,000+ mile, multi-month trek). To reduced their loads, they pre-staged supplies (i.e. food, clothes, goodies, replacement parts, etc) by posting them via general delivery to post offices along the route.

3) Reference your equipment list and wt issue. I would suggest trimming your list by combining some your planned items. Below are some suggestions.
- Backpack with maps, maintenance release and camera equipment
>> ditch the paper reference material in favor of electronic (PDF) versions on your iPads. My iPad holds the current set of ROTAX manuals, the SeaRey build manual, all my build photos, as well as a complete set of US VFR/IFR navigation charts.

- Camcorder Sony NX30P and tripod
>> Use the 4 GoPro cameras instead

- iPad and iPad mini, iPhone, and Asus T100 windows 8 tablet with 2 TB external hard drive and Extra 64 gig memory cards
>> It looks like between the two of you, you are carrying 4 computing devices with about 1TB of online storage on top of the 2 TB HD

Spot tracking device
>> Isn't there a iPhone/iPad app that can do this function?

-Paper charts
>> Use digital Maps via air navigation, unless AUS regulation say otherwise.

- Tool kit/Spare parts.
>> you might want to have a look at this MyFamily technical site posting titled 'what tools to carry?'

500mm of engine oil & Spare oil
>> You may want to include some coolant and pre-stage replaceables at enroute stop points as suggested above

You are reliving the experiences of the early 1920-30s pilots who went exploring the hinterland and found how wonderful seaplanes were. Have a great time. I'll be tracking your progress on FaceBook Attachments:

    Spare battery for your watch?
Charger & cord for iPhone and all iThings?
Good memories of all your SND friends that are following your adventure and
cheering you on!
I like the C-208 idea too, but wonder if a C-130 would be more helpful.
