Wayne Nagy and Frank Carr are OK. Had losses, but safe and turned down an offer of evac.

Thanks, Ken. Good-ish news there. Good about Frank Carr, too, over on STS>

Thanks Ken and Don. I had asked Ken for a USAF Blackhawk and a Delta Team, but the compromise wouldn't take 2 more passengers without being over GW. Seriously, our community took 155 mph winds and is basically trashed. No deaths however, and with time, work, and money most (trees not so much) can be rebuilt. Besides the wind, we sustained a tidal surge near high tide which flooded the community and all homes trashing most of our autos. We had 3 and all were totaled. We stayed thru the 2 days of Ian, ultimately "had" to accept a ride to a shelter (local school), spent one night there then some family arrived and evacuated us to South Carolina where we are safe and comfortable. I have to say that the Lee County and State of Florida personnel were fantastic, EMT's working 18 hour shifts, Law Enforcement, Volunteers everywhere, etc., just an outstanding job!

Kind of mislead by forecasts and stayed for Ian here in Estero, just inland from Fort Myers Beach by a mile or so. FMB is still very dark at night. We're in a 19th floor hi-rise, we were able to watch the 12 foot of surge roll in right across the 700 acres of wetlands to the west of our community, and up the Estero River. I would say the surge took less than an hour. The 2007 building we live in is extremely strong, with 150 mph windows. Visibility was actually pretty good during the whole storm. Probably saw 120 mph gusts. We watched our Lanai enclosure peel away. (I'll post pictures) The parking garage and storage units were flooded with 3 feet of water, one of our cars was just hauled away yesterday, insurance called it totaled. (Electrics fried, couldn't even open the doors. When it was towed yesterday it was a giant mold factory.) I have a Miata parked on an outdoor upper parking deck which escaped the surge, and we were able to leave our community the next afternoon, dodging fallen trees, etc. The street in front of our building was covered in flopping fish from the Gulf. We just got back late Monday, having stayed in a hotel in Homestead. Our power came back on last week, but hi-rise A/C cooling tower equipment as well as breakers controlling water pumps were destroyed. it took days to source a 3000 amp breaker system. A/C and water are back on, and they lifted the boil water notice yesterday for our part of Lee County. We were very lucky in the hi-rise, hundreds of homes in our community were flooded with as much as 4 ft of water. Streets are now filled with water- logged furniture, cabinets, drywall, horticulture, etc.

Mike and others above are right on. Ian was mean and nasty. Ann and I rode it out both days, watched as our Pool Screen Cage
swayed back and forth then buckled and fell from metal fatigue. See photo. Third day had enough, called 911 and the Lee County
Rescue Squad #23 was there PDQ. Spent 1 night in a shelter, 'rescued' by family, transported to
SC and still there working on next plan.

Sorry, no idea what causes all the spaces.

Frank, I did the "Admin" thing and couldn't find any explanation for the extra spacings--but I'd guess that you might have posted it with an iPad or iPhone, which don't get along perfectly well with the Windows carriage-return philosophy. I can probably remove the blank lines in a flash if you'd like, but can't guarantee that the photo will remain. Or you can do it by clicking or tapping on "Edit" and deleting the blank lines.
In any case, I'm glad you're okay.

Well, Prof Admin, it worked, and it in the place of the spaces I'll add a little info and two pix, then call it quits on Ian. I drove down to
FMY arriving last night and confirmed what others had told me, our little community was first trashed by Ian and is now trashed by
the real trash, having been placed at the curb as directed, it remains there as FEMA has decided to haul a reported 100 Tons of other
community's trash to places unknown..
My house is still standing and is structurally sound, but the damage is enough to raise serious
doubt in my mind of returning here.
In any event the second photo was taken from our second floor, showing the flooding of the street and community by the tidal surge
arriving here around high tide. Approximately 5-6 feet of briny Gulf water and mud flooded thru our homes, totaling many cars in our
garages (we lost 3).
The first photo was shown on the news, but it shows the result to the Fort Myers Gulf Shrimp Boat Fleet, so the "shrimp supply
chain" will extend as will prices of our tender juicy Gulf Shrimp (if we can find any).
