    What a homely Searey clone.

The pic shown in this mag shows one thing I do not like - the position of the main wheels when retracted. They are too much in the way of your visibility out the side windows. I watched a promotional vid made by the company and they did their best to avoid showing this....the cockpit views were out the front only. (The vid had really cheesy acting and english dub-over).      Attachments:

Also, it looks like it may not be possible to get in and out with the gear up, or at least very difficult! At least that's the way it looks, and again this was avoided in the vid. When they are camping, the plane is behind them gear down.

Makes “gear is up” pretty obvious.

I had the chance to give the Borey and the Aero Volga factory in Krasny Yar, Russia a very close look when visiting there
last October.

The Borey is very well built by the same folks who build the twin-engine LA-8. Aero Volga is a real
(and very impressive) factory, unlike the Searey factory which is more of a glorified hobby shop.

But... the airplane is not as good as the sum of its parts or excellent engineering
would suggest. It's certainly no Searey. Yes, the landing gear is right in your side view when raised. The cabin is tiny and not near
as comfortable as a Searey. I didn't see any sign of good cabin ventilation, and certainly not the amazing open cockpit option of
the Searey.

Like many of the other light amphibs (petrel, icon, seamax), it will do what they say it will do, but can't figure out why
anyone would buy one. The Searey is king of this category, and despite the current challenge of having to deal with Progressive
Aerodyne, I have never understood why anyone would buy anything else

I declined my invitation to fly the Borey, but gave my seat to another good friend-of-searey. He may
chime in here with his opinion. I did like the clever water rudder tail wheel combo. If there was anything I've always wished for on
the Searey, it's a proper and functional water rudder for engine-off steering.

I'll post a couple pics of my visit to Aero Volga.

The raised gear position alone would be the game-killer for me. I noticed in the vid that the gear was down during cruise flight. I got to thinking that gear down is probably the normal position during all phases of flight and not raised until preparing for water landings, due to the restricted visibility and interference with emergency exiting with gear up. In other words, no WUFF for this plane. Am I close, Kevin?

I like the prop behind me, rather in front over my head. Just saying
